The hotel is so handy for me as we just cross the road to the Botanic gardens and i can park my car adjacent to the ground floor room at the rear of the hotel. The back lane is perfect for an early morning dog walk or an evening stroll. It's interesting seeing the back of the old houses and I met and chatted to some nice people while out there. The ability to park so close to to room is great as it makes fetching in luggage so easy. The room was clean and airy and the TV. worked fine. Great value and so convenient for me to visit my daughter. We had some lovely walks round the Botanic gardens several times a day. Food shopping is convenient too. There is a good supermarket five minutes walk away in Byres road. Staff were helpful and friendly.
We booked this room through Airbnb and on arrival approximately 7pm we both wanted a shower but we discovered no towels, no shampoo and no hairdryer. These were all stated as facilities on the website. The carpet was very badly stained and dirty. The shower was cracked and black mould throughout. The overall experience was one we do not want to experience again
We were told we had the 'Best room in the place', I'd hate to see the worst! The hotel contains a lot of period features, which included the mattresses, probably been around since Georgian period. Yes we had tea making facility, which was a kettle that you had to plug in in the only electric socket on the skirting board on the other side of the room. TV was pretty non existent as could only get BBC. The only staff we saw was on the night of arrival and a cleaner who seemed friendly enough. It was like the Marie Celeste otherwise. There was continual noise from the room next door with doors banging continually through the night. There were large wooden shutters on the bathroom window which we closed for privacy, only to reveal paint peeling behind them. No somewhere to be recommended.…
I had booked this hotel for a two night trip. Around 1.30pm (check in 3pm) I was contacted to say they would need to upgrade me to over booking Both properties they took me to were not suitable especially for a solo female, with one property not having a working toilet. No alternative was offered and I had to try and find a last minute option then return home rather than enjoying my weekend in glasgow I would not recommend this property
Only wish I had read its reviews first...68 rated the Georgian House "terrible", while 31 rated it "poor" The place has clearly seen better days, and it could and should be so much better. Run down. Shabby. Dirty. We booked 2 nights in advance, based primarily on its west end location. And, this is its ONLY positive. Originally, the owner managed to loose our booking .I only wish I had taken that as an omen! When we arrived there was no available free parking at the back as promised .No welcome. No staff. Owner only available by mobile to provide password for entry. Very strange. Does not offer breakfast "due to covid restrictions"; but after reading reviews I think I now understand why. The price advertised outside the front of the house was significantly lower than what we paid; and, that probably tells you everything you need to know. Like so many others we took one look at our fusty room and left. Fortunately, we could stay with a friend, who in stark contrast made us really welcome And, to cap it all despite leaving repeated messages over several days the owner seemed to choose not to respond to our request to discuss a possible refund. A rip-off…
Unbelievably terrible place, walked in main door to a fusty smell and never saw any staff all week. Told key would be left in room for me. Room very poor quality with stains all over carpet and mattress to small for bed frame. Noise from outside constant even when windows shut as gaps at side of frame. TV only worked for one hour all week and the WiFi not at all. Some " Interesting" residents including midweek when police came and lifted one of them into the back of police van. Suspicion is that it's used as a community halfway house. FINALLY FOR YOUR OWN SAKE STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE
This had to be worst hotel I've ever seen it's a dosshouse how anyone can stay there is beyond me we actually had to book another hotel while checking into this one everything was disgusting dirty or broken just awful
The location is good and the member of staff pleasant, The hotel is in poor shape and really quite grubby, lots of maintenance issues and poor decor . Bedroom was bad enough but the breakfast room simply awful, unhygienic and unsafe. No staff around in the morning to complain to , it was cheap but better places that are competitive priced are close by .
I have stayed in cheaper and dirtier hotels but that was when I was backpacking in Turkey and Thailand decades ago. The location was convenient, the bed was clean and comfortable. Otherwise the room was damp and dirty and smelt of sweat. There was a lot of rather battered pine furniture in there; it was a bit like sleeping in the store-room of a charity shop. There was no light in the en suite, but the previous guest's towel was. The breakfast I'd paid for was almost adequate but there was no water and no way of heating any for tea. No wifi that I could raise. Don't stay here if you can possibly help it.
Great location but that’s about it. They say breakfast included. All you get is yogurt fruit and toast. We paid £100 for a night in this place. It was clean enough but not decorated in a good 10 year. Would I stay in it again yes but only the flat they also own at the block at the side. If it’s just a last minute place to put the head down and have a decent location then it’s cheap enough but that’s about it. Breakfast included in the price wasn’t what was expected that’s for sure. Needs a full refurb top to bottom.
