Great location to explore Glasgow, rooms were relatively clean and staff were helpful and friendly. For the not so good bits! There is a small bar area at the reception site, but not somewhere you would choose to spend a lot of time. The breakfast is served on the first floor. So if you are lucky enough to stay on this floor, you will get the scent/smell of a holiday inn breakfast delivered to your bed room, even if you did not order it! HI express breakfasts are part of your room rate (not free!) so they are pretty basic, I Have stayed at loads and there are some really good examples of where its done really well- but unfortunately here was terrible, crowded, cold, not cooked, limited selection (based on the already limited full menu). Also beware- got stung for 25 pounds for my dog being with us, appreciate I did not look at this cost when booking, so my bad. However they advised I should call in advance to see if they have a dog room available when booking, it does not say this as advice when booking on the site- also the cost was extortion, get there I a need for a fee- but come on 25 pounds! Especially when I ask the house keeper in the morning is she aware/know where dogs are staying in the hotel- answer : No, so suspect they’re is no deep clean going on for this 25 pounds…… Have a suggestion, take a deposit, inspect the room before departure? That way you will be customer centric. Reason for the pro,s & cons here is- its not cheap to stay here either

Stayed here for the first time in few years. The hotel is clean and spacious in a great location.
As with all hospitality it’s the staff who make the stay memorable. Big shout out to Kevin, who was pleasant and professional making the trip memorable with his friendly demeanour. Moreover, all staff were pleasant and helpful.

We booked a cheap and cheerful new year trip to Glasgow. I wasn't expecting much from a Holiday Inn Express but we were all pleasantly surprised. The hotel is situated right beside the Buchanan bus station, so handy for travel in from the airport. The twin bed room was small, clean and comfy and the shower was nice and powerful as well as having really hot water. I missed having a hairdryer for 2 nights but needs must. The buffet breakfast was varied and plentiful, nicely cooked and the staff were very welcoming, always greeting you and constantly replenishing the buffet breakfast, I would definitely stay here again, great value for money and so close the Buchanan Galleries and all that central Glasgow has to offer

We checked into our room this evening and when we arrived, were surprised to see the sofa bed half folded. When unfolded, it left a very small gap to get into/out of the room which was difficult to get through and not very safe.
I spoke to reception, who told me it wasn't even a family room I booked, just a double with a sofa bed. I pointed out that I booked a room for 2 adults and a child so I expected a room where we could safely move about. I was told I could have a refund of 50% so I could go book another hotel, which I said was absolutely unacceptable.
A manager was called and she said we could either get a refund of 100% to go elsewhere or pay for a second room!! I was so angry and upset. We have stayed in many holiday inn express hotels and this is the first time we have ever had a problem... I didn't expect the room to be huge but call me silly for expecting a room where we can move about safely!! As we left the receptionist did say a lot of people complained about this.
We then had to spend quite a bit of money to move to another hotel, not to mention all the inconvenience and time spent trying to get our refund.
Extremely poor service and a complete disregard for health & safety from holiday inn express.

Where do i start...... Me and my wife visited here for the first time and we wont be coming back to this hotel ever. My wife is disabled and uses a wheelchair and has an assistance dog. We booked a standard double room as they didn't have any accessible rooms available, we tild them in advance that my wife has an assistance dog, they then told. Us apon check in that my wife and her assistance dog are restricted on the areas of the hotel we was allowed in because of her assistance dog which included being told we had to sit in a room on our own for breakfast because Assistances and guide dogs are not allowed in the main breakfast area. I then went on to explain that's illegal and discrimination under the disability act, they did not care what i was saying they had to email the hotel GM who was not in for our stay to clarify the Disability Act, we then get a knock on our room door to say it was ok for my wife and her assistance dog to be in the main breakfast area. It just went down hill from there. We had an issues with our bathroom so when we was out maintenance came and sorted it out but on our return we found quite an unpleasant surprise in the bathroom, mentioned it to reception and we was told it was impossible that it would have happened and no apology. We was then quickly told there was an accessible room available (Room 169) which we was moved to. That turned out to be anything but an accessible room (it used to be classed as one but not now) only found that out when i mentioned the issues with that room on the morning of check out) they quoted " because of the bed size its now not an accessible room its meant for old people that need a wet room but not a disabled Room" they have left the emergency red pull cord in the bedroom but removed the cord in the bathroom but left all the signs in place (see pictures) my wife had a fall in the " So called Disabled Bathroom" but couldn't call for help because there was no cord to pull and I was out walking her assistance dog. I told reception that she had fallen and they didn't even care they never even asked if she was ok. You cant even get a wheelchair past the bed. Worst IHG Hotel we have ever stayed in most of the staff are so rude. Sadly i can't remember the young girls name but she was really helpful and polite, just a shame its ruined by the others. Toilet Roll Holder no where near toilet, toilet to low and grap handle to high.

This hotel is conveniently located right next to the Buchanan St Bus Station (where many CityLink buses arrive and depart), and in easy walking distance of several shops and restaurants. The front desk staff were polite, helpful, and accommodating. They did their best to help make my stay better, including providing an extra fan for my room, allowing me to store a perishable souvenir (cheese) in their fridge, and arranging to have a taxi pick me up in the morning so I could get to the airport on time. The included breakfast was also great, with many options, although the breakfast room was a little crowded. On the other hand, this hotel is not designed to handle hot weather, which does happen in the summer even in Glasgow. The rooms are not air-conditioned, and they have a window that can only open the slightest crack at the bottom. It seems like the window was designed to swing further open, but has been restricted from doing so by a steel cable, probably for "health and safety" reasons. As a result, the rooms quickly get hot and stuffy during warm weather, and even at night they are slow to cool off due to the lack of air circulation.

I was travelling on my own, and after a difficult and long bus journey, I was delighted to find that the hotel was only 2 minutes' walk from the bus station. My check in was easy and my room was big with a nice bathroom. It was nice to have a window that opened, although it got a little noisy later on with emergency vehicles. The shower was excellent and there were shower gels etc provided. Breakfast was the same as in all HIE but was plentiful with plenty of choice and constantly refilled. I had a slight problem with my keycard not working but a young lad from housekeeping let me in to my room and my card was reset easily at reception. I would definitely stay here again as it's in a great location for the bus and train station and is close to entertainment and shopping.

This hotel was an awful experience. I am very surprised about the rating it was given by the rest of the customers on this site, as it was a really terrible experience. We stayed just a night but we should’ve gone to a different place.
Where to start…
First, the hotel doesn’t provide very basic toiletries such as shampoo, soap or conditioner. Apparently you have to bring your own, which was a first for a 3 star hotel. The shower had a hand wash dispenser that we were told it was meant to be used for the hair as well as the body - which of course it was a lie, as the packaging very clearly said “Hand Soap”. I wonder if the receptionist washes her hair with hand soap?
The towels were thin, low quality and they were given to us damp. When we arrived, we were told that the breakfast was going to be different than the one promised, something that was not mentioned in the Hotels.com website before booking. The menu was reduced, with only a choice between egg roll and sausage roll, a selection of 3 types of cereal, and coffee from a machine. Whoever tells you this is a good hotel breakfast is simply lying to you.
The bed was too soft, and the pillows were strangely hard. The room had no AC/temperature control so it was very hot at night. Opening the window meant the noise from the planes would wake us up; also it is just next to a busy road so the street is very bright and the view is absolutely terrible.
This hotel was an awful choice for our stay in Glasgow. It was very uncomfortable for sleeping and when we left, we were left tired, sleepy, hungry, unclean and smelling of hand soap.
This wasn’t a budget choice so I recommend anyone to go somewhere else unless you’re absolutely without any other option. We honestly felt taken advantage of, having to pay to have such a horrible experience.

Dear jonathanbY8389ZP, I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your recent stay with us. After investigating the issues raised, it seems that our housekeeping department had made a mistake and placed a bottle of hand-wash in the shower cubicle instead of hair and body wash, I apologise for this error and the mistake has now been rectified. In all our newly refurbished bedrooms we have 2 soft pillows and 2 firm pillows, with medium mattresses to try and cater for all preferences, it is unfortunate that the hotel was unable to satisfy your needs with this offering. Like many hotels, our bed linen and towels are laundered by an external company specialising in hotel laundry, I was very surprised to hear that you found your towels to be damp, this is highly unusual, and we have passed on your comments to the external company and are waiting for their feedback. We do not advertise as having air-conditioned bedrooms. Currently in Scotland we are prohibited by law to offer a cooked buffet breakfast. For our complimentary breakfast we currently offer a choice of 6 cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, individually wrapped croissants, and a choice of 3 individually wrapped muffins. We also offer hot rolls made to order with a choice of sausage, vegetarian sausage, scrambled egg, and bacon. A variety of freshly ground coffee options are available from our machine as well as cartons of fresh orange and apple juice. Thank you for taking the time to write a review, hopefully we will be able to welcome you back at some point in the future and able to change your perception of our hotel. Kindest regards Jayne

Recently visited Glasgow and we were looking for somewhere within easy walking distance to pubs, restaurants and a rail connection. Not only was this hotel ideal for us but the staff were also very welcoming & informative. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, although on arrival we had a problem with the electrical sockets. We reported this to reception and within 5 minutes the very capable maintenance team had us back up and running - thank you. Also in the breakfast room in the morning the staff were very attentive in clearing the tables and keeping everything topped up and were even testing the temperature of the food - excellent to see. Couldn’t fault this hotel for convenience, cleanliness and customer service. Also really loved the hand wash, shower gel & moisturiser.
