Stayed here for a short stay whilst travelling around Glasgow. The hotel is situated in the heart of the city centre, subway, train & bus station all within a few minutes walk away. An abundance of shops and eateries on your doorstep. The hotel offers an inclusive hot buffet breakfast within its rate, this recently refurbished hotel offers the additional sofa beds in the rooms. Sadly no fridge or comfy chairs but it is a budget brand and you do get the standard power shower, inclusive breakfast, kettle and television so in fairness what more can you want for the price. Would stay here again as it was a comfortable nights stay, warm cosy rooms and decent value for money. Security check via Room Pass in lift is an added reassurance for security and peace of mind whilst staying here.

We got there at around 17:30 and went to check in. Everything was going fine until we had to show our ID’s which we did and they refused checking us in because a YoungScot card is “an invalid form of ID”. When we told them that we don’t have a drivers licence or a passport as we are only 17-18 and that is our form of ID they turned around and said that it says on booking.com that they only accept passport or drivers licence. As I never read this before on booking.com I went to double check thinking I just missed it but nothing was there. It didn’t say anywhere that they don’t accept anything but that. Staff were also very rude and grumpy, not helpful at all, didn’t even try and help us or give us directions to another hotel near by, all they did was tell us to cancel the booking we made as it’s free and we’ll receive all our money back, which we didn’t! We didn’t even receive half of it back which is absolutely ridiculous as we’ve been told we’ll get all of it back. We just took our bags and left. This has to be the most shocking and worst experience ever. I do not recommend and will definitely never book with them again.

Response from Jayne Nicolson, Revenue Management at Holiday Inn Express Glasgow - City Ctr Theatreland

Dear Adriana B, all guests checking into our hotel must over the age of 18 or be accompanied by an adult. If the staff member on duty believes that a guest may be below this age, they will ask for proof of age at check-in, acceptable forms of ID are driving licence, passport, or PASS card; the same as what would be required if you were to buy alcohol from a licensed establishment. I am sorry to hear that you feel that the staff member on duty wasn’t helpful; we take all feedback on board as we strive to improve our services. Kindest Regards Jayne

Great location, room good, very friendly staff. Just misses out on 5 due to the breakfast which is very limited. The hotel isn’t particularly cheap so I would have expected more variety. I am awkward because I am vegetarian and gluten free. The only hot option was scrambled egg. No tomatoes, no mushrooms and veggie sausages not g/f. It was fine but it is unusual to have quite such a limited choice. So in summary, I would stay there again, but only if I couldn’t find somewhere with a better breakfast

This is my first time staying here and it won’t be my last. The staff were amazing... a friendly greeting. Our twin room was warm, cosy, clean and nicely decorated. The beds were nice and so comfortable with crisp white linen. Tea and coffee facilities and hairdryer. The breakfast was plentiful and a good range to cater for the various nationalities. The staff friendly and attentive and nothing was a problem. We had a full day in Glasgow before our late train and Emma on Reception was superb and kept our luggage safe.. we popped by with some extra bags whilst we caught an early dinner before heading home. All in all. It was a great service on all accounts. Highly recommended. So much so we are coming down in November for a couple of days. Another bonus. Five minutes walk from queen street station. Close to all the shops and cinema and theatre.

The hotel is in a great location.. Carpark is across the rd..you come out of the carpark door cross the rd and go in the hotel..brilliant.. its £8.00 a day if you get your ticket related at reception..👍 The staff are all friendly, polite and helpful.. The rooms are clean and spacious.. And a nice tea tray..but the shower was boiling and no way to turn it down.. Breakfast is a buffet with jams, toast, bacon, sausage, beans and scrambled egg..and if u are in a rush, you can take it out .... The only grumbles we had was the subway Which starts at 6.30a.m and ends at 11.30.p.m.. And even on the 4th floor its loud... And when the subway stops, The people who live in the multi story carpark start ..arguing and shouting.. Hotel is brilliant.. It's just the things that are out of the hotel's control that let it down ....
