Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Staff were rude. Our room was downgraded from River view to street view, as overbooked. Mother-in- law upgraded just before stay to river view. Breakfast was shocking. Complained twice, was just ignored.

Hotel's Favourite
Well what can I say about the Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow. 5 stars just isn't enough, purely thanks to it's staff! After spending 5 nights a week here away from my family for the past four and a half weeks on business I cannot thank the kind and caring staff enough. I have truly been made to feel like one of the family, from meeting Geo in reception, to Allan at breakfast and George in the evening on the first few day's their hosting skills have been amazing and an 11/10 experience throughout, after spending 6-7 hours in the car each week every single member of staff have made my stay an enjoyable one, these three have been superb. Normally you will remember the name of a single person at a hotel if you are lucky, however there are lots of dedicated and hardworking staff whom have made my stay what it is, the GM should be proud of all of his staff, I honestly could not write about every experience with each person so here is a list of everyone (that I can remember) whom I have met and from where: Geo, Lisa, Irene, Gabriella on the front of house. Alan, Stuart, Tammy & Ana from breakfast. George, Vaiga, Suzi, Phillip, Savanah, Saskia and Dean from the bar and restaurant and not forgetting Dennis, from the night shift. Of course, spending 20+ nights in 5 different rooms in any hotel in short succession will uncover the odd issue here and there with the quality of the rooms etc, but I believe overall the quality of the hotel is above average, but as previously mentioned the staff have done everything in their powers to accommodate every guest that I've witnessed them dealing with, which is incredible considering the nature and diversity of the guests that utilise this hotel, from all corners of the world. It's not often that I write a review but it's important for me to highlight the extent that these incredible people have gone to, especially when they appear to be pretty understaffed on a regular basis, GM please take note, especially during busy gigs and breakfast with bus tours on. On a final note I've just learnt that the haggis and mushrooms have been taken off the breakfast menu, I have personally enjoyed the haggis as I'm sure many of the overseas visitors have enjoyed tasting a famous Scottish tradition, it also allows a taster prior to ordering the haggis fritters off of the restaurant menu. Overall a very enjoyable stay and I will absolutely be returning, for both business and pleasure in the future.

This hotel was even closer to the Ovo Hydro than we expected. It was so convenient! The staff were super helpful and kind and the food was fab. The room was spotless and we had a view of the River Clyde! I’ll definitely stay here again.

Hi tammygriff4, Great review, thanks for sharing. Really glad to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and Stuart and our chefs stood - all are incredible to be fair but Stuart in particular is a huge asset to our team. Good shout out too to our neighbours, they do have a lovely roof top bar. It's not as nice as our riverside terrace and patio when the sun is shining (which it does sometimes in Glasgow). Come back again soon. Best wishes Alan

This is a lovely place to stay. The rooms were very nice. The staff very friendly. Wish we were able to spend longer. The breakfast was sooo nice and freshly cooked. The whole hotel was very nice and luxurious. I can’t fault a thing here. Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again

Mixed bag. We got the hotel as part of the Itison deal for overnight stay, breakfast, late check out, bottle of wine and two course dinner. The check in and parking went fine with no issues and dinner and breakfast were both really nice and good service. The only negative comments are towards the cleanliness of the room and the older man who acts like a bouncer at the door at night. He would not let us in without our key cards which was fair enough but we felt he was a tad severe looking and walked around in reception with a very stern face! A wee smile wouldn't go a miss! Room 421 had thick dust right along the headboard, all over the lights, the curtains were stained and the tiling in the bathroom was dated and needed redoing towards the ceiling. We also felt the room had a very musty smell but we did have a window that opened so it didn't last long. I also agree with the other guest comments about the bar area being very small. We struggled to get a table for a drink at night but couldn't sit outside as no alcohol after 10pm. They did eventually open up the back dining area which had previously been shut off we assume for breakfast service the following morning but it took them a while to see the room getting busier and also the bar. So our stay was ok but just a few tweaks needed to make it better.

Firstly you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We appreciate your positive comments about the check-in process, parking and breakfast service. Its great to hear that you had a great service in those areas. However, we are truly sorry to hear about the issues you encountered during your stay. We take cleanliness very seriously and we apologize for the dust, stained curtains and dated tilling - we will make sure to address these issues promptly. Regarding the staff member at the door, we apologize if their demeanor came across as stern. We will address this with the team to ensure a more welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, we value your feedback as it helps us to improve. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with a more enjoyable stay. Kind Regards, Georgiana Front Office Manager

Stayed here after getting a deal from my hotel breaks. The deal was 1 night for 2 with free parking, 2 course dinner each, breakfast each, bottle of wine and late check out. We paid an extra £20 for guaranteed river view . The rooms are great size with plenty of storage, there is also a fridge, iron and ironing board in the room. The bed is comfy and there is no noise from other rooms/hall when you are in. The view of the Clyde and the bridge is fantastic, could sit and watch it all day. We don't usually eat at the hotel as we prefer to go out into the city and try places but as it was part of the deal we obviously went down to the restaurant. None of us drink wine but it was free so we thought we would just try it but then we were told we could pick 2 pints of lager instead, result! As this was part of a deal we weren't expecting big portions but we were wrong, it was a good sized portion and it was without a doubt the best fish and chips I have ever tasted, even the mushy peas were perfection! The desserts were also delicious. After a lovely comfy sleep we headed for the breakfast which was a buffet style with everything you could need, it even had a make your own waffles bit! It was all outstanding, not the usual basic buffet breakfast we were used to at certain purple hotels. 10/10 will definitely be back.

Stayed for 1 night as we were attending a gig at the OVO. This hotel is a fantastic location if you are attending the OVO or Armadillo. It’s literally a 2 minute walk across the road. Loads of parking on site so no faffing about walking from a car park with bags etc. The only slight criticisms I have was that we had booked a river view room months prior & had asked for a higher room (we even got an email asking if we would like to upgrade to a higher room). When I enquired with reception I was told all the higher rooms had been allocated, which I was surprised at, bearing in mind we had made our reservation months prior to attending. The room was good, if not a bit tired looking. Still a nice view overlooking the Clyde. We went down for an evening meal, but was told that because we hadn’t pre booked we could not get a table. It would’ve been good if reception had told us that we needed to pre book a table. We ended up having a 10 minute walk into Finneston to get food, which wasn’t ideal, as we had to rush to get back to go to gig at the OVO. Overall a good stay, but reception could be slightly more informative

We stayed for one night as we were attending an event across the road at the Radisson Red which was fully booked. On arrival John checked us in and was super friendly, let us check in a little bit early and was a great introduction to the hotel. A credit to the hotel. I guess the hotel is a budget property but the room was small and a bit basic, very plain decor and a tiny bathroom. Really just somewhere to rest your head for the night but I've stayed in better Travelodge and Premier Inns. Bed was comfy though. Super handy for the Hydro etc so great if you are going to a concert and just want a bed. Just average
