The Sandyford Hotel garners praise for its prime location, conveniently close to city attractions and dining options. Guests have commended the cleanliness of the rooms, although opinions diverge on their need for an update. The staff's hospitality often receives accolades, despite occasional service hiccups. While the hotel's ambiance is seen as functional, suggestions for modernization are common. The amenities satisfy basic needs but some guests find them lacking. Lastly, the value proposition of the hotel is debated, with contrasting views on whether the price matches the quality of the stay.

Hotel on a busy part of saucihall street,
Very central for west end and city centre, bus stop right outside hotel to get to city centre number 3 or 77, don’t know about parking

Hotel extremely clean and staff work early for breakfast 7-8.30 then off to start hard work again but in rooms, lots of stairs so if you’ve health issues maybe email ahead to request aground floor room, also 1 flight down for the breakfast room.

Hotel reception welcoming

Hotel room we were on 3rd floor a triple room, clean and fresh towels daily, tea/coffee facilities

Bathroom with shower

Breakfast
What a choice from fresh fruit to cereal, porridge, toast and fresh full cooked breakfast

Staff
This team works early mornings to set up and serve breakfast, then go on up to the rooms to start their room duties, nothing was a problem to any of them

Would I recommend YES 100%
Would I return 100%
Thank you to Mary & he team and fir Alex for her work on cooking the breakfast. Well done guys yiur doing an amazing job

I usually stay at the Sandyford Guest House situated about 300 yards along the road in Royal Crescent which is far superior. The cat test was applied and could not be swung the room being that small and the bathroom was incredibly cramped. Certainly not easy to negotiate. The breakfast was up to its usual high standard which is why the rating is higher. Great staff.

Hotel was very clean. Small and slightly dated but a great base to explore Glasgow. Staff all super friendly and are available 24/7. Always someone on the front desk if you need. Convenience store next door, but vending machine in reception should you need. Free tea and coffee in room and towels in bathroom. We were told due to covid, no room cleaning but our room was cleaned. Bathrooms look new and some DIY taking place. Was quite loud. But as already said room was purely just to sleep and shower in. Tv with a variety of channels. Beds comfy, doors can be loud when closing but overall generally a comfy stay. Breakfast AMAZING! lots of cold and hot choices, best b and b breakfast ive had anywhere in the UK. Only downside is it finishes at 915, but after the 2nd day we understood why it finished so early as q lot of staff did breakfast, covered reception and then made the rooms daily, so very long hours for the staff.
Check in and out was easy, no where to story luggage but staff allowed us to check in when we arrived 11am and leave our bags in reception on day we left.
Lots of places nearby for visiting. Charing cross station is 20 min walk, definitely recommend a visit to Balloch and Loch Lomond, 6.30 return and 14 cruise worth it. If i ever find my self in glasgow again, i would probably come back here. Thanks for a lovely stay

Dreadful circumstances brought us, a diverse family group, to the Sandyford Hotel.
Throughout our stays, staff were kind and thoughtful, and did their best for us. Rooms with problems were promptly swapped, and others cancelled or extended without fuss. i would go back, and recommend The Sandyford as a good place to stay, for whatever reason. There are many restaurants to choose from, and places of interest to visit, it is also well served by buses!

I have used this hotel on 3 separate occasions over 2 years but the last visit was problematic. My first observation is the daytime receptionist who has received us each time and is not particularly friendly. We had to alter our dates on 3 occasions through covid restrictions but found that she wasn't very accommodating or patient, that we couldn't alter our dates again. The pandemic isn't our fault. We were put on the top floor up 3 flights of stairs (62 years old on a walking stick) in an attic room (411) that was dull and pokey and in desperate need of a makeover. We missed breakfast each day because the stairs were too much. But aside from my moans, this hotel is in a good location with cheap parking available and generally comfortable and with good food (when accessible). Might use it again by which time the said receptionist might have moved on. Shame really.

My daughter and I stayed here as we were visiting to watch a concert. Perfect location although parking a little difficult. The surrounding roads are free at weekends but during the week you have to pay. The hotel offer parking at a discounted price if you ask at reception. The room was clean and spacious and offered comfortable beds, tv, tea & coffee etc. we both slept well. Breakfast was great, everything you could ask for and the ladies serving were lovely & chatty despite being busy. I would definitely stay here again if in Glasgow and highly recommend. Definitely value for money!!

I stayed here for one night with my daughter on a recent trip to Glasgow. I really, really want to be positive about this hotel but unfortunately it’s hard to see beyond how dated it is.
On the plus side, the bed linen was clean and fresh and so were the towels. The location is perfect for exploring the city. Although there is no dedicated parking, you can easily park very close on the street. The wifi was very good.
However, the negatives outweigh the positives. The hotel is incredibly dated. The carpets throughout are really, really grubby and stained. The carpet in our room was thick with (what I assume) is months of thick dust all over the carpet by the bed. The bathroom, although clean, was screaming for an upgrade (think 1970’s peach) and the shower cubicle was tiny. That said, the hot water was plentiful. In general, the room could do with a repaint and overall modernisation. Our room faced the main street and we could hear road noise throughout the night. The high ceilings in the stairwells must make cleaning a nightmare but they are literally hanging with dust. Incidentally, if you have mobility issues there are no lifts either.
We didn’t stay for breakfast so can’t comment on that.
I made the booking via booking.com and told the lady at the check in that I had paid. She insisted I had not and I ended up paying twice. She was very apologetic when she realised and rectified it quickly but this might be worth noting for other prospective guests.

I stayed here on my own for a conference at the SEC. It is a great location, 15 minutes walk to SEC, 15 minutes walk through Kelvingrove Park to Byres Road, and you can catch a bus into town right outside the hotel. The staff were lovely, I felt very safe staying here on my own. The bed was really comfortable, breakfast was great and really quick service, the hotel was quiet. The room is a little dated but at this price I don't think you can beat this place.

The hotel is in a great location Plenty of nearby bars and restaurants. Within 15 minutes walk of OVO HYdro and conference centres. It is also 5 minutes to Kelvingrove Museum , park. The is a bus stop outside.

I had contacted the hotel prior to arrival to ask about taxi fares and transport to the hotel-unfortunately I did not receive any replies to my emails. However, once at the hotel the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful.

The hotel is dated and in need of some TLC, however the bed linen was clean. Standards of housekeeping throughout our stay left something to be desired though!

As other contributors have said there is no lift.

Breakfast is servied until8.30a.m. weekedays and 9.15a.m. weekends. Continental is buffet style with hot food served to table.

There is a reasonable choice of cold and the hot food I had was always what I expected-good sized portions and served hot. Room is small and chaotic( not relaxing!)

Overall it is 3* and reasonable value for money.

Definitely a great hotel for the price worth every penny.
They let us leave our bags in the morning then put them in our rooms for us.
Rooms were a good size, clean and cosy on arrival. en suite clean and sufficient.
The breakfast was amazing better than 4 * hotel.
Not far from City centre 30 min walk or £6 taxi.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. They even phoned to let me know i had left my glasses then posted them back to me for a small charge.

Plenty of street parking nearby, don't think the Hotel has a parking lot. Didn't see any parking meters on the side streets, although we came by public transport so weren't really looking.
