Quirky building, 8 bedrooms (I think) with a bar downstairs. Staff were wonderful but the rooms were shabby and in dire need of a makeover. We had rooms 1 & 5. Room 5 had no hairdryer, no Lightbulb in the sidelight, no working light in the bathroom. I couldn't get the TV to work. Room 1 was marginally better in...

One night stay in Glasgow, hotel opposite the Glasgow Cathedral. There is a small car park too which is a bonus. Staff couldn't have been friendlier, location good for town centre, ok there are a few stairs to climb to the rooms...but heck it's an old building! Room was basic but fine for a nights stay, there was live music...

Our two twin rooms were shabby and depressing with paintwork coming off the bedside tables. The sash window in one of the rooms wouldn't close. The whole ambience was 'grim'. To reach our rooms we went up three flights of spiral stairs, two of which are concreted. We decided to check out immediately and explained our views to the manager....

the website shows you pictures of 2 rooms which look really nice, they don't show the other rooms because they badly need updating, plain, tired, do not represent the website or the price compared to other hotels, also the view was not of the necropolis or the cathedral as advertised but of the roof of the building (turret room).... however,...

Adjacent to Glasgow Cathedral and The Necropolis. This place should be busy every day. Our food was simple but really tasty and cooked well. No Brake Brothers' specials, just proper home made fare. Inexpensive too. Definitely worth a visit. In a great location and amongst beautiful buildings with intriguing, chilling histories.

After a most interesting tour of the nearby Necropolis, we stopped in for a late lunch. The bar area is warm, welcoming and comfortable and the service was friendly. Drinks were served very quickly. The menu had a few veggie options - I had the chilli burger. Jalapeños were promised but there did not appear to be any with my...

Visited pub killing time before nipping round the corner (well not quite round the corner) to the Tennents Brewery. A nice pub in a characterful building with an atached hotel apparently. Good service, nice atmosphere and eveidently as much used by locals as visitors to the nearby Cathedral, Oldest House, St Mungos etc.

This hotel is quite characterful, but rather shabby. The towels and bedlinen were spotless, which is great, but the bathroom was really run-down and quite grubby. Staff were pleasant, with the general management style a little quaint. The location is good - opposite the Necropolis and near the Cathedral, with the walk into the city centre taking you past some...

Very old building next to the Cathedral. No elevator so had to go up 3 sets of spiral stairs to get to room, which was modest but adequate. Parking available meant a parking meter across the street that required feeding periodically throughout the day. Staff at the hotel bar/restaurant were kind enough to feed the meter when we were out...

Popped into the hotel for a quick drink and had a welcoming reception. The bar staff were friendly and the bar area was love and clean. We noted that the food looked lovely. Soup and a sandwich for £5.
