We love boutique type hotels and this one hit all the marks. Great restaurant at night - Celetanos. Located across from the Glasgow Cathedral and Necropolis- this wee hotel is lovely. Be aware that there is not lift, but didn’t bother us! View from our room of the Necropolis.

The hotel is right next to the Necropolis and some of the rooms will even face it. For precautions, there is contactless check-in which wasn't a problem for me. In fact my room was already made early in the day so I was able to use the door code and get into my room without any issues. You just take your key with you and leave it in the door when you check out. The hotel is pretty small with a circular staircase that goes up a few floors. There is entry level, then below that is the basement level where the entrance to the main restaurant that was in use is. Above the entry level is a closed restaurant area (not the main one) and restaurant kitchen and then 2 floors of rooms. The top floor only has about 3 or so rooms if I recall and the hall smelled each time I was up there in 2 days of wood smoke for some reason. Not sure as I never smelled anything like it on the 2nd floor rooms or outside at all. My room was smallish, but the bed was very big and took up most of the room. It was also loaded with pillows and was very confortable. There is also 2 desks and a pitcher of water with 2 glasses. The bathroom was fine, had normal amentities such as shampoo, etc and nothing bad about the room. Shower was fine and had enough water pressure. There are sockets next to the bed on the floor so you can charge up your phone, etc. The room would go from warm to cold at night, so often I would be tossing off the cover and then having to use it again during the night. Traffic was very light and there was no noise issues at all. The host whom I saw in the restaurant at check-out to pay was very nice and helped me get around town as I was staying elsewhere for the rest of my time in Glasgow...

I chose Cathedral House based on stellar reviews and high ranking, and because, according to reviews, it offered breakfast. Couple of days before my arrive date I received an email from the hotel manager telling me that the hotel restaurant is closed on the day of my arrival and gave me detailed instruction on how to get into the hotel and get to my room. This involved me carrying 2 heavy suitcases two floors up. I managed, but there are folks who may have a problem. The building is a gorgeous 19th Century Baronial. The room was clean, has a nice shower, comfortable bed. But there is no closet space at all: just 4 hangers hanging on the wall. I don't know how other reviewers ended up with complimentary breakfast, but while my stay there the restaurant was only open for lunch and dinner. This brings up a point that the closest place to get breakfast is at Moxy Hotel about 10 minute walk from Cathedral House; the only 2 other places have permanently closed down. After Moxy, the closest cafe is around Trongate Cross - about 15 minute walk from the hotel. There are no buses near the hotel, and there's no decent restaurant (apart from the one in the hotel) close by. To walk to George Square (center of Glasgow) and closest subway station - Buchanan Street) takes about 20 minutes. It is, however, a stone throw away from the Cathedral, Provand's Lordship (currently closed due to COVID), and St. Mungo's Museum (also closed because of COVID). So for anyone with limited mobility should consider carefully before choosing this hotel: you will need to walk up pretty steep stairs and either walk at least 10 minutes to get a bus or resort to using a car, taxi, or Uber to get around. And, quite frankly, you can get a hotel much closer to the city center and great restaurants for the same or cheaper price.

Brilliant Hotel, staff where great can’t rate it highly enough. Won’t miss those stairs though lol. Room was excellent, breakfast was a great start to the day and the location was ideal. Just enough outside of the centre to be peaceful but close enough to get the most out of the weekend

We stayed with our friends to celebrate my husbands birthday. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived. Beautiful room with lovey music playing in the room when we arrived. The room felt luxurious and the bed was the comfiest I’ve ever slept in. The views from our room were incredible especially with the city lit up at night. The shower is also worth a mention and the extra fluffy towels! We had dinner in Celentanos (the Resturant below the hotel) which was outstanding. Very much recommend!! We also had breakfast here the next morning which felt so welcoming and relaxing. The hotel location is excellent in the centre of Glasgow, with shops, bars and restaurants all a very short walk. We can’t wait for an excuse to visit again!!

We stayed for one night whilst visiting family and having a night off from parent duties. We arrived early but we were able to leave our luggage with Laura and go to explore before checking in. If driving there is a car park down the hill just off of Duke Street - very reasonably priced. We stayed on the top floor and had a beautiful room. Great roll top bath and shower with lovely shower gels, and well stocked tea/coffee facilities. I would highly recommend eating in restaurant! Great quirky vibe, buzzing atmosphere - excellent food! We're already planning another visit next year.

Wonderfully restored building. Lovely warm welcome from Laura. Our bedroom was tastefully decorated, super comfortable bed and luxurious shower room. The bar/restaurant area is welcoming and quirky and the restaurant has a growing reputation for good food. We’ll definitely be back and can highly recommend this place

Visited last week for a child free break in Glasgow. I am so glad we booked into here as it was much nicer than the big chains and was worth it for the views! We were met by Laura on arrival who kept our bags while we went walking waited for check in. We walked round the Necropolis and enjoyed the views over the city. The room was right at the top of the building, which was a bit of a climb, but let me tell you it was worth it. Comfy bed in a contemporary styled room. Plenty of tea and even a Tunnocks Caramel Wafer.....Happy days! The only slight niggle with the room was the space in the bathroom, the shower door opened out the way and didn't leave much room for you to manoeuvre to get in, maybe a sliding door would be better (maybe it was the caramel wafers that made it a tight squeeze). Breakfast in the morning was beautiful, continental but all home made. Fresh fruit salad, granola, toasted sourdough and beautiful fruit compote. Thanks Laura, it really is a gorgeous place you have, and the history of the building and surrounding area is fascinating, as well as having some of the famous Glasgow Mural Trail on your doorstep.

After a long time without a holiday we booked a short trip to Glasgow and it was just the warm welcome we had hoped for. The staff at Cathedral House were warm and welcoming, the rooms were super stylish and really cosy, the comfiest beds. Great location from which to explore the city. We werent sure if the hotel's restaurant would be for us but were pleasantly surprised - the food was nothing short of sensational and we were not surprised to hear The Times had rated it 10/10. We will most definitely be back.

Firstly this is a lovely hotel. Nice spacious clean room with all you would want. It is very central, in a nice area with an easy walk to the city centre, nightlife etc. Our experience was made easy and very enjoyable by Laura who was a lovely kind host and was very accomodating as we arrived quite late. We didn't realise there was a breakfast included so the fresh fruit, yoghurt, granola, coffee, toast and orange juice was a lovely bonus. Just a lovely place with lovely people.
