We have been using this hotel for many years for visits to Ibrox and Social Events . It has always been friendly and welcoming with good and varied choice Unfortunately our experience last was very disappointing. The room had a strange odour , the staff were not particularly friendly and the breakfast was very poor .
We attended a funeral in Glasgow necessitating an overnight stay. A family member recommended Go Glasgow. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. Attending a funeral is a sad occasion but at least we had a comfortable stay. The staff from reception and the restaurant were fabulous, warm, friendly and attentive. The room had everything you would expect from a good hotel and the bed was super comfy. Breakfast was well worth the money. I will definitely stay here again. In fact I have now booked for a birthday party in October.
Frequent travellers to ibrox but usually stay in city centre as this place is usually a bit more expensive....booked early enough this time and got a decent price however you can get far better in city centre for better price. Went to check in, 2 adults and a 14 year old to be told we had only booked a double room..receptionist said kids under 5 stay free if using existing bedding, I didn't even know this was a thing..do they expect 2 adults and a kid to sleep in 1 double bed? Was told they couldn't do anything as hotel was fully booked I asked could they not put a pullout bed in the room and the guy said no and that he would speak to us shortly if we wanted to wait in the bar..got a pullout bed put into the room so not the end of the world Double bed was definitely smaller than a double, again not the end of the world. Fridge in the room was a nice touch...bathroom and shower up to great standard On the whole the location if you are going to ibrox is the best you will get but I do think it's over priced for what you get. Back to stayin in the city centre for us I think…
We arrived on a Thursday evening and staying till the Sunday morning, At first glance it looked like a ok hotel and was greeted with open arms, we was given our keys to our room and off we went, The room was ok (we where not expecting the ritz ) but the bed was so small so we asked for an upgrade, which was given at no extra cost (thank you) Now we went for dinner The place was packed with children ( just our bad timing not due to the hotel) and they was on a buffet , but we chose to go for the menu We orders a soup stater and a main corse After 30 minutes the soups came out we took a spoon and tucked in Unfortunately the soup was flat cold (my wife’s white wine was warmer ) The waiting staff was on the ball and took them away After hearing a few dings of a microwave the soups returned (plates was hot soup was like warm) Then the mains After a few bites of what was not fresh fish I had to leave it They don’t do house keeping unless you’d any more than 3 nights and then you have to ask We paid 100€ a night for the hotel (including breakfast) we had problems through out due to the hotel being old and out dated The staff was great so 👍 to you guys but they could be a lot of improvement in the kitchen and hotel rooms…
We stayed overnight, as we had tickets for a concert at the hydro. The staff were friendly, helpful. We brought our dog too,we got a ground floor room, it was clean, tidy the bed was comfy not a full double. Facilities in the room was ok. Due to the old firm game the next day,it was quite noisy at night, but no trouble though. We had dinner there, quite pricey but food was ok. Breakfast was good, food was hot, buffet style. Would stay again.
I booked this hotel on Boxing Day 2021, after reading all the glowing reviews, also being told how much better Glasgow south side is today that over 2 decades ago. Was staying as I was going to Sam fender. Fast forward 3 months driving into Paisley road west, I wasn’t of the knowledge of how close hotel is to Ibrox, I just generally do not like football traffic. If you want to stay at the hotel when quite please check there’s no events or football on I didn’t know there was a legends weekend on. Lucky enough me and pal arrived back to hotel at 3am so it wasn’t noisy or intimating as we thought it would be. Hotel rooms are nicely presented and beds are really comfortable also a lot good parking spaces on the grounds giving free parking to guests. But again if you aren’t a fan of football or the business of football traffic check fixtures and events.…
Second time staying here, first time wasnt good experience but that was some years ago hence our second visit. Allowed us to check in early, room small but clean, Shower powerful, breakfast was self service and replenished frequently, disappointed coffee was instant you make yourself, filter coffee would have been nice and not too much to ask for the prices they charge. Free parking for hotel guests. Not too bad, however worst nights sleep ever due to very uncomfortable mattress, my husband had to take painkillers middle of the night as his back started to hurt and mine is similar this morning. Would only stay here again if I couldn't get anywhere else.
Cant comment on the full nights experience as we ended up leaving after 2 hours due to how unclean the room was. Everywhere you looked there was a stain on the carpet or the curtains. The light switch looked like someone had sneezed on it. Water in the sink wouldn’t run away due to the a build up of hair in the plug. The room had not been cleaned with debris on the floor. Receptionist was very helpful and did offer to find us another room but after reading several other reviews about the cleanliness in other rooms we decided just to leave the hotel.
I normally read reviews Before booking and this place seemed promising. Well I was wrong. As we entered the lobby it seemed promising but when we got into the room, expectations quickly went. There was a massive red stain in the middle of the floor, lots of mould on the shower heads and loads of dust bunnies in the corners of the bathroom. You could hear the neighbouring visitors on the toilet or in the shower especially when outside the room, The walls were super thin. Breakfast wasn’t much better. The food was cold and we arrived just as the opened up. There was a extension lead causing a trip hazard from the kitchen to the Bain Marie. Was not impressed at all
My son and i always stay at this hotel and have done for years now, i dont keep great health but love to follow glasgow rangers this hotel is literally 5 mins from the stadium. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble, check in is fast and free parking too, the breakfast is cooked perfectly and the restaurant menu is varied with an excellent choice, even though the hotel is very busy when the football is on service is still quick and you always get a great nights sleep, the rates are very favourable for this class of hotel and i would advise anyone coming to glasgow to give it a try.
