Our first time at Malmaison and we were very happy with out stay, we booked a club room and we both really liked the decor and contemporary style of the room, toiletries were very nice and there was a coffee machine with pods as well as water in the fridge, plenty of towels provided and robes too. Only downside was a few little signs of wear and tear in the bathroom.. strangely the cold water tap flows very hot at first which can catch you out. The bar and restaurant areas are modern and fresh, the cocktails are very good (best whisky sour I've had) but maybe a little pricy at £10 each. Check in was fantastic, we arrived 2 hours early and the receptionist found us a room straight away! This was much appreciated. The location is pretty ideal for exploring the city centre for daytime shopping and nighttime bar hopping it's also a short walk to a couple of theatre's. Overall this was an enjoyable stay and we'd definitely use Malmaison again.…
We stayed in this hotel for two nights and upgraded to a "club room". So glad we did as if this was the upgrade the basic room must be very basic indeed! Room decor was a bit tired and the view was the huge noisy building site next door! Not a lot the hotel can do about that to be fair. The toiletries are lovely and there are tea and coffee facilities in the room and a welcome box of chocoaltes which was a nice touch, We had breakfast and dinner here too - starters were gorgeous but the lamb curry was definitely under par - some of the lamb being melt in the mouth and others like shoe leather! The breakfast is expensive for what it is to be honest and again a bit of a hit and miss . Eggs Benedict but the bacon was cold and I do mean cold - fridge cold! On the lovely waitress bring me another (my husband had now finished his breakfast by then) the eggs were very overcooked at £18.00 a head we were disappointed. We ended up finding a lovely wee Italian place two minutes away "Smile cafe" with gorgeous breakfast and lovely sandwiches the coffee was excellent too. The staff at the hotel are absolutely lovely. They work hard and are very welcoming. In particular Paula and Paul in the restaurant and the lovely Rodriguez in the bar who makes the best espresso martini! Everyone we met from the lovely lad on the reception to the waitresses were very friendly. …
I have stopped here three times now the rooms are very well equipped to very high standard which include ironing board, fan, and small fridge all in a little cupboard large TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The rooms are very well furnished. The bathroom is elegant with cloudburst shower over bath and with water so hot you could boil eggs 😊 with free very nice up market bath and shower gel both at the sink and the bath/shower the food is excellent, the staff very friendly and you always get a very warm welcome at reception
Stayed here for one night, rooms were clean & modern, staff very helpful & friendly, bar staff extremely accommodating to all of the guests. Location perfect for either exploring the city centre, or wandering for breakfast to Finneston or the West End Yes there is a bit of noise outside due to the ongoing building works, but that is not the fault of the hotel, wouldn't put be off staying here again.
Stayed here for one night for work and it was fab. The lovely Joe on the evening shift was fab. We talked for ages so hope I didn’t get her in trouble. Great to see a dog friendly hotel. The room was very swish and certainly something I would not have imagined. Pure luxury. The only reason not for a 5 stars was the morning staff, they weren’t so friendly and I wasn’t able to redeem a free voucher drink as no area to order between check out and flight leaving. Also I had to pay extra for a hot breakfast that was not advised to me. Breakfast is included turned out to not be the case so good idea to make it clear to people. If you say it’s included but then charge them that puts a downer on what was a lovely stay.
unsure why this hotel has so many bad reviews on here! the staff were all so lovely and welcoming, rooms were spotless and super modern. The decor in the rooms were super classy and luxurious and the beds were soo comfortable to sleep in. Bathroom also lovely with a waterfall shower. Great location if you are going out in glasgow as it is super central. You may want to avoid the same mistake i made with wearing heels if you are walking though as hotel located at top of a hill. 5 star hotel would definitely stay here again- best hotel i have stayed in in Glasxgow for sure.
The Malmaison is not well suited to hosting Christmas breaks given that there is no lounge in which people can sit around a cosy fire and get to meet each other, so there is nowhere to host a games night, or quiz. That said, the management and staff offered a great package with the service to match. On arrival on Christmas Eve we were offered a 20% discount to use the Q-Parks car park in Waterloo Street, four blocks away down a steep hill. Ordinarily that would be great, but as parking was free on Christmas Day we found it more convenient and far cheaper to park on a meter right outside the hotel, paying only for Christmas Eve until 18.00hrs and from 09.00hrs until we left at midday on Boxing Day. Our room was comfortable and clean, but the TV was mounted on a wall parallel to the bed, which meant that watching was not such a comfortable experience and as at Christmas there is little else to do but eat, go for a walk and watch TV, this was a disappointment. Why not mount the TV on a bracket that can be adjusted to provide a more comfortable viewing angle? There was a chilled bottle of champagne in an ice bucket, with two glasses on arrival and on Christmas morning a stocking was hung on our door with a Christmas card from the management and a stocking with a Cadbury's Orange and a mandarin inside. The drain for the sink was blocked and the heating did not work in the bathroom. Although we reported both, nothing could be done over the Christmas period. The food and service throughout our stay was really good, so we felt that we had made a good decision is staying at the Malmaison over the festive period.…
Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights with my partner, we had booked for December but had to change twice due to Covid, so were really looking forward to finally getting away for a couple of nights! Firstly, staff were all really great. Friendly, personable, helpful and polite. Reception staff were great and the bar was lovely, good drinks and really pleasant bar staff. The disappointment comes from the room… we found it to be a little dated, very small and although it was clean, it wasn’t as spotless as expected. The bathroom was really small, the shower went from hot to cold very quickly and so you were either jumping out so as not to freeze or to not be scolded. The water didn’t drain away very quickly either, and the toilet also didn’t flush very well. The room was also quite dark and it was difficult to get the temperate right. The windows weren’t air tight so there was a draft, but the heating also didn’t seem to have a middle temperate, again it was either off completely or far too hot. The nights we stayed it was cold, rainy and windy, and the wind whistled through the windows all night long. Pair this with an early wake up call from the building sight next door, it’s a bit frustrating. The building site is just one of those things and definitely nothing the hotel could do about it, but it does niggle you a little more when your room is not quite up to scratch as well. Our room also had 2 others right on the same corner. Meaning all 3 doors were right next to each other so it was quite loud, especially on a Saturday night. Overall, whilst the staff were really great, the whole stay was quite disappointing, and we wouldn’t return. We have recently stayed in budget hotels which were far more spacious, clean and better maintained than this hotel, which is a real shame.…
Never again! On arriving in our room we found the furniture was vibrating and the room was filled with noise. Looked out the window onto a large and busy building site. Returned to the reception desk and spoke to the manager. He said that rooms on that side of the hotel were all noisy because of the building works and that the disturbance went on from around 7am until 7pm. There was no way we could stay in our room under those circumstances and the manager moved us to a room on the other side of the hotel. This was also disappointing: • Very creaky floors inside our room, in the rooms on either side and every time someone walked past in the corridor. As a result we were regularly disturbed and felt we had to tiptoe around the room to avoid disturbing other guests. • It was really dark and gloomy. The one window was in the bedroom and let in very little light. It felt like we were stuck in a cave. • We both slept badly for the 4 night duration of our stay. We were so disappointed by this Malmaison experience which spoiled our anniversary break in Glasgow. I would never have booked this hotel if I had known about the building site in advance. I think the fact that Malmaison don't mention this at the time of booking is sharp practice at best. Breakfast was reasonable apart from the very stale, dry pastries.…
Booked a dinner bed and breakfast deal for one night. Reception staff were lovely and we were provided with a free upgrade to a lovely suite on the ground floor. The room was lovely, clean and modern. Only issue in the room is it has two big sash windows which are not very sound proof or air right so there was a draft and you could often hear the exhausts of boy racers at night. All staff were lovely at the hotel. Dinner was nice however the truffle fries I added sadly made me sick as the truffle was way to over powering. In bed for 9.30 due to this. Excellent central location. Would stay again.
