An interesting hotel for under £100 per night for an excellent room slap bang in the middle of Glasgow. It’s no 5 star hotel, it’s not got a restaurant apart from a breakfast area but it has got a popular bar and lounge that occupies most of the ground floor and is frequented by diverse Glasgow society people. Plenty good restaurants nearby, thank goodness. The rooms are clean and air conditioned but amenities are few. A kettle, tea and coffee and soap and shampoo are provided, as it plentiful towelling but no robes or slippers or other such niceties. Adequate wardrobe capacity and a room safe are also provided as is free and fast WiFi. My Samsung TV only showed 2 channels! Size wise, rooms are good, if not large, and the carpeting is starting to show minor signs of wear. However, in this day and age of ballooning hotel prices, this is a little gem.

Hotel's Favourite
Our first stay at a Motel One and it probably won’t be our last. Very impressed with the stylish lobby, the well-thought-out and very clean rooms, and the front desk service. All of which is way above what you would expect for the price (we paid about £120 a night for three nights in mid-September) and puts some of the drab-looking ‘budget’ chains to shame. Location is great too; not the smartest area of Glasgow but perfectly fine, and right next to Central Station, which (as you might expect from the name) is in the centre of the city and made a few days' getaway from London super easy. A 20-odd minute easy walk or a few minutes' cab ride to Finneston, where most of the really good restaurants are, and we even walked out to the Pollokshaws Road in about 30 minutes, which has some nice independent shops and is obviously on the way up. Some ticks from me: somewhere to actually put your washbag in the bathroom; lots of space to put clothes and suitcase away; and extra hooks by the door for your coat and daily bags/shopping. As well as the stuff that you should expect from any hotel but which is often lacking, like good pillows, a very comfortable mattress, temperature control in the room that you can actually understand, and a decent shower with a sensible water-retention system. Some fun style touches too, like cool Scottish photography in the rooms and lobby, so much nicer than the generic ‘blah’ art you get in so many hotel rooms. Motel One, if your business plan is keep prices affordable but create an environment that doesn't say 'cheap', then it's working a treat. Of course, service is what really makes a hotel somewhere you want to return to, and it was uniformly very good. A special shout-out for Rachel, who checked us in with a genuine smile and then remembered us when we went back with questions (which were efficiently dealt with), in a very busy environment. Thank you Rachel, you made our trip so much nicer! If only more hotels could be like this, and offer actual value for money, how much more pleasant travel would be.

Fab hotel, right next to Central Station so great for getting around. Rooms are small, modern and well thought out, perfect for short stays. Reception and the bar areas are very funky and quirky, and staff are beyond helpful. Hotel is a lot better than most of the more expensive alternatives

Kyle - the perfect gentleman and very hospitable to us! Helped us with a little favour with an ironing board for our clothes! Also his nail polish was cool! Zoe - so lovely and kind to new hotel goers! She made asking silly questions easy. Adara - got us checked in with a warm welcoming personality! We loved our stay and will definitely be back here again!

Hotel was very clean. Room was a little on the small side but had all I would need. Staff all very helpful and welcoming. Parking at the hotel endorsed car park at the end of the street wasn’t good. Obviously frequented by people who have been drinking and taking drugs. An uncomfortable walk to the car. Overall good hotel in a great location.

First time ever using a motel one chain. £59 for one night and was definitely worth it. Reception staff were helpful. Bed was really comfortable. 12pm Checkout as well so there's no rush to leave. Overall very good.

Booked this as was going to Glasgow for drinks on a Saturday afternoon. Its right next to Central Station so perfect location, check in took about 40 minutes as we arrived at 3pm and so did everyone else however up into the room we stayed in 3-16. Into the Room it was small and compact but adequate for 1 night. Bright and clean and had everything you required, hairdryer Iron etc. Shower is a rainfall shower and is fantastic and exactly what you need on a Sunday Morning lol. Would stay here again we paid £119 for 2 it was good value for money and the location is perfect.

Great location, friendly staff, lovely hotel. We stayed over New year, myself, partner and 2 year old. Location of the hotel was fantastic, so convenient and parking available 2 mins away for £9 a day. The cleanliness of the hotel we thought let it down, everything just didn’t seem up to scratch, it appeared you had 1 person cleaning each floor so was rushed. We had a couple issues worse been a fake eyelash on back of the TV remote. Room- we stayed in a standard King but was fine, bi enough for the 3 of us but I would stay elsewhere with a family but this is a cracking couples hotel. We had the breakfast each morning which is continental, great choices but sometimes it took an age for the staff to replenish. Staff were so friendly and helpful, Calum on reception and Steven on the bar were awesome, very helpful and considerate to our 2 year old. The view we had from the room was awesome looking over central station and up Hope street. Loved it.
