Spent one night here on a reunion weekend in St Andrews. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful and every room had its own decor and charm. What a contrast to the standard decor in larger hotels. And everything was pristine. Breakfast had everything you could want and the vegetarian feast was excellent. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you...

Well kept hotel with small rooms but everything that's required for a pleasant relaxing overnight stay. The breakfast choice is excellent with amazing tastes for all. Centrally located with shops, restaurants, cafes and cultural activities all within hop, skip, jump distances. Free parking at door - if there are spaces. Otherwise pay to park further along street.

From the property to the location to the incredible staff- this is an incredible bargain. I almost want to give a poor review and keep it my secret. This is an ideal stop for travelers on business or pleasure.

My daughter is studying in St Andrews and this was my first visit. I was looking for a cozy, centrally located and not too pricey. I booked Albany Hotel very quickly - just really looking at location and price. It turned out to be a real Gem. Loved the attentive service and heart-felt engagement of the staff. Excellent location to visit central St. Andrews/Fife. Makes for a great dinner location as is very close to main street with shops and dining. Hearty hot (to order) breakfast in addition to a continental buffet. Comfy beds with larger rooms and easy access to parking right outside.

The hotel was close to centre of the town. Our room was spacious with very comfy bed and pillows. Plenty hot water for showers. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Could hear some noise from other residents coming in at night. It is an older building. It didn't spoil our stay.

I stayed for three nights. The staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient. My room was compact, but as I was on my own it didn't matter. The breakfast was varied and good, there was a good range of drinks available for a small hotel. The hotel is well positioned and comfortable. I'd definitely stay there again.

Stayed for a single night whilst visiting my old Uni town. Friendly and helpful staff, room was very well kept, clean and tidy. Breakfast was spot on. Shower wasn't the most powerful but probably due to local water pressure. Overall very satisfied.

Everything was good. All the staff are friendly and helpful. the room was comfortable as was the bed. The breakfast was excellent. The only fly in the ointment was that, try as I might, I was unable to get hot water from the shower. Perhaps there is a knack to this. If so a set of instructions would be helpful.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a small, friendly, informal 3 star hotel. The first in St Andrews to be awarded the prestigious title 'Townhouse Hotel' by the Scottish Tourist Board. The quaint old building has a warm personality all of its own. You will love the craftsmanship of the many original features. Built from 1764, the hotel consists of two Georgian terraced houses, both exactly the same layout, built for two brothers by their father, Mr Thomas Low. With only 22 rooms (all en-suite), we are able to maintain very high standards in accommodation and service without losing our warm and caring attitude towards our guests. Special, great value seasonal, weekend and golf breaks are often available, so contact the hotel for details. The hotel will also be delighted to help arrange golf, sightseeing tours and visits to places of interest. We look forward to you spending some time with us at The Albany Hotel and getting a real flavour for everything St Andrews has to offer. ... more   less
