Hotel Du Vin St Andrews garners praise for its prime location with easy access to the beach and local attractions, including the St Andrews Old Course, with guests often enchanted by the picturesque sea views. While the rooms are acclaimed for their comfort and cleanliness, a few reviewers have raised concerns regarding the size and outdated decor.
The service staff is generally commended for being friendly and helpful, although there have been occasional reports of inconsistency. Some travelers feel the atmosphere could use more vibrancy, and opinions on value vary, with certain guests finding the pricing steep relative to the amenities and service.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for 2 nights as our daughter was having a Covid restricted open air wedding on the West Sands. We had booked a deluxe room and were allocated Aberlour which was a large room with great sea views. From the staff in reception on arrival to our departure, everybody was friendly and looked after us well. Hand sanitizer was available throughout the hotel and its use was mandatory before entry to the Bistro for breakfast. The cooked full breakfast is worthy of special mention- one of the best.
The only reason I have not given 5 stars was because the free wi-fi was unavailable in the room - had to leave room to connect and then it dropped out quickly. Apart from that minor issue, we really enjoyed our stay and plan to return once its back to normal as I'm sure it would be really special.

Have just had a lovely short holiday staying at Hotel Du Vin in St Andrews for two nights. Hotel is easy walking distance to everywhere, all staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and we had a lovely room with fantastic view. It was lovely to sit in a chair morning and late afternoon, just relaxing and watching the sea whilst enjoying tea or coffee. Housekeeping is excellent, spotless clean. Our room has everything we need including bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer, nespresso coffee machine, good selections of tea, l’occitane’s toiletaries (they are not miniatures) for shower gel, shampoo and body cream as well as hand soap and hand cream fixed on walls so no need to bring anything with you and no small bottles to discard afterwards so environmentally friendly. Bottles of water on bedside tables. We didn’t eat dinner but had excellent breakfast both mornings Again breakfast staff were really fantastic. Throughout the hotel there are lot of COVID-19 measures in place and we felt very safe and they don’t distract you or affect the atmosphere of the hotel. Under the current situation I understand how challenging it is for many accommodation providers to open their business and provide excellent customer service with reduced capacity and I think Hotel Du Vin St Andrews does very well and we really enjoyed our stay. Location, staff, cleanliness, view from the room and breakfast - these are all excellent which have also made our short break in St Andrews even memorable. We would be more than happy to come back and stay at this hotel again.

Had a lovely night in The Young Tom Morris suite, had already done online check-in and prepaid for bed and breakfast. When we arrived the check in was very friendly and helpful, we were handed our room key (safely) and advised how to access our suite.
The room was lovely, well equipped, had both tea and coffee making facilities, there was also a small bottle of milk in the fridge, there were snacks available and bottles of water at either side of the bed.
The bed was massive and very comfy and we had a great nights sleep, was a little bit noisy when the wind got up with something loose outside that almost sounded like someone knocking on the windows.
The room had a fab view and you could watch the seals in the aquarium across the road.
We had a table booked for 1830 in the bistro, we were shown to our table with a lovely view over the water the staff were excellent and very attentive without being over bearing. The good was served promptly and portion sizes were excellent. Could not really fault the food or the service.
Breakfast was lovely, all table service due to COVID restrictions but food was all served promptly and was tasty and not too filling.
Check out was also friendly and efficient.
We will defo be back and would highly recommend the hotel. We were also able to park right outside the hotel

stayed as a couple 18-1-20 room was a upgrade at £235 for one night bed breakfast . when unpacking i went to use the bathroom which i discovered was a disabled bathroom nothing wrong with this, however my husband is 6 foot and the wash basin was 2.5 feet from the floor for wheelchair use . we did consider asking to change rooms however hotel was full and we had concerns what we would end up with .
On reflection i wish we had changed the room as i banged my head on the glass shelf above the basin when brushing my teeth which was again positioned for someone in a wheelchair i ended up with a bruise but could have been nasty .
There was milk left in the fridge for tea and coffee however making my early morning tea and pouring the milk it came out in lumps and noticed it was out of date and sour .
we visited the bar for a drink before bed 1/2 of the bar was full of dirty glasses which did not give a good appearance for a 4 * hotel however the price of the drinks did .
On check out we were never asked if we enjoyed our stay ,or if everything was to our liking. We thought about giving feedback but did not think they were interested as they took payment on arrival which i found unusual especially when they had your card number .
over all we loved st Andrews had a good weekend and wether was on our side but next time i would stay somewhere else NB this could be one of the best hotels but has a "fir coat and no knickers attitude "

So for the past few months we have all been in lockdown due to COVID19 and as the restrictions have been lifted my husband and I decided to come to St Andrews. Although slightly apprehensive, it was for my birthday so we booked here. Weve been plenty of times before and normally stay at Old Course or Fairmont but fancied a change of scenery.
Upon arrival the facade is very grand as we climbed the steps. . . i had high hopes! We were met with directional spots on floor with distancing instructions thereon. The staff had masks, perspex screens and handsanitisers. So far so good. Didnt feel it was too overbearing but was stil keeping everyone safe. They even have a video in the foyer showing how the steam clean the entire room. Excellent!
Check in took a few minutes and we got our key to our room.
Got in to find black hairs, looked like dog hairs, ALL over the white bed! What happened to the steam cleaning and everything being spotless and safe??
I spoke to the girl at receiption, who was lovely, she moved us to another, smaller, room and was very apologetic. Fair enough.
We dumped our bags, went for food and returned. Upon opening the fridge to put milk in there was a half empty box of beers! I was not amused. Two rooms that quite clearly had not been cleaned properly. Bad enough during 'normal' times but in the age of COVID19, shocking!
Again was the same lovely girl at receiption. She apologised and that was fine. It made me feel so on edge though! If this is the standard at the start of the easing of restrictions, when things are just opening, what will it be like in a month or two?
The manager was very apologetic too and offered us complimentary champagne which is a nice gesture.
Its a shame because its a beautiful hotel with very nice staff.

Spotted the Sunday night offer at Hotel du Vin where the room costs £50 if £75 is spent on a meal. We were delighted with the quality of the offering. Our room, while not huge, was nicely decorated and quiet with a very comfortable bed. The coffee capsule machine was a welcome addition to the usual tea making facilities. The bathroom was also very well equipped with a large shower.
We enjoyed an excellent meal of Chateaubriand, cooked just as we like it and matched with a decent bottle of Bordeaux. The waiting staff were friendly and extremely helpful. In fact. we were impressed with every member of staff we encountered during our stay.
We will definitely visit again, next time we're in St Andrews.

We stayed for two days. The room was great, the food was lovely, however, it’s the staff who deserve a special mention as every one of them were so nice and helpful. I was even able to charge my electric car - thanks so much for helping with this!
The staff were constantly cleaning the doors, handles, the lift etc. They have a great set up for breakfast too during these very restricted times that just keeps everyone safe and helps breakfast nicely. Well done!

This was our first visit to any hotel since the easing of restrictions. We checked in and paid online in advance and this meant less time at reception on arrival although any worries over that process were unfounded. We felt safe at all times throughout our visit.
A very comfortable nights sleep followed by a hearty breakfast was just what we needed to lift our spirits.
If you have any misgivings about visiting a hotel for a short break I would thoroughly recommend this hotel where you will be well looked after by all the team.
The rooms are charming and the beds are very comfortable. The showers in the bathrooms are amazing.

Treated my mum to afternoon tea at Hotel du Vin for her birthday. Glad to say she enjoyed the experience.
The afternoon tea comes a traditional selection of sandwiches, scones with jam and cream and a variety of cakes. It all tasted delicious, especially the rum baba cakes.
There is also a selection of tea with unlimited refills. The tea does, however, come in tea bags instead being loose leaf.
Service was excellent. The staff were happy to accommodate my dietary needs and replaced the salmon sandwiches with another filling.
At £22.50 per head i thought the afternoon tea was good value for money, especially since we were all stuffed by the end (they do offer doggy bags in case you are unable to eat your way through all the cakes).

Stayed for 2 nights in October, the hotel is very sorted out with all the current restrictions and we enjoyed our stay.
We both manged 10 hours sleep each night which was the rest and break we needed.
Had a couple of hick ups with the breakfast mainly items arriving at the same time. We felt the evening menu was lacking in vegetarian options and expensive for what we had.
The weather was kind to us and we visited the cathedral, the castle and the botanical gardens as well as having a good walk round the town. We had a lovely meal at tail end too.
