Last December, I took my girlfriend to see the Lion King for her birthday and afterwards we stayed at Motel One, on Princes Street - as recommended by a member of my family. As this was our first proper night away – I was a little nervous when checking in, however the staff were so incredible with us. They asked if we’d stayed before (we hadn’t) and so the staff upgraded our room to one with a view at no extra charge which was great of them! 🤩 The room was very clean, super modern and the bed was unbelievably comfy! Our room looked out over to Waverley, so we could see all of the Christmas Market from the window.🎄 Obviously COVID Restrictions are impacting what we can and cannot do right now – but I’d very much recommend booking up for the future, if anyone is looking for a (very reasonably priced) night away in Edinburgh!

Excellent service from the Check In staff who were amongst the best we have had in any hotel world wide. Nice clean room. Excellent breakfast adapted for us at a time when the buffet was not possible. Left well rested after a memorable stay in a great location.

Recently stayed for a long weekend at Motel One, Princes St. I was a little worried about the noise as it sits on the main street, opposite Waverley Station but couldn't really hear it once we were inside the hotel. Very helpful, kind and caring staff upon arrival (and throughout our stay for that matter). Breakfast was available (continental) and was great to start us off for the day. The rooms were basic, but perfectly clean and the facilities all worked as one would expect. We didn't come to the city to stay for hours in the hotel, so it was perfect for what we wanted. I would recommend this place and I would certainly consider staying here again.

Hotel is very close to Edinburgh Waverley train ( but you can’t hear it) and it’s furnishing are of a high standard. Huge bed! Lots of hot water and hanging space, but very little space set up for folded clothes storage. Breakfast is served as cold, including the croissants, but otherwise very good. Hotel receptionist very helpful, providing guidance on trips to zoo by bus and also letting us store our bags until later that day and after check out in our room.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. Location in Edinburgh is excellent, opposite Waverley station on Princes Street. At first I was worried about the noise from outside but did not really notice it. Rooms are basic and not going to win any awards but if you need a base to explore Edinburgh this is pretty close on perfect. Post lockdown breakfast was just a grab and go bag - I would recommend skipping and popping into the Cactus Cafe which is directly behind and much better. Bar area was really funky - just a pity we were the only ones there for 3 nights as occupancy appeared really low. Dog friendly.
