We absolutely loved our stay in Edinburgh! One Royal Circus is such a luxury - Frette bedlinen, spacious yet cosy reception room and bar, games room and a freshly cooked breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff who gave us great tips about our onward trip to London.Excellent location too. Mike Gordon was most helpful and answered our emails promptly. Thanks... More

What can we say, having stayed there in 2006, it is in large part the reason for coming back to Edinburgh and Scotland in 2007. Mike and Susan and this year Kim, the house manager are the perfect hosts. The historical house has been lovingly restored and renovated. The setting is in many ways perfect. You are located in New... More

This is without doubt a most fantastic place to stay. A friend and I stayed one 6 Nations weekend earlier this year - always a great time to visit Edinburgh - and the hospitality from Mike and Susan is exceptional. The breakfast is stunning, the rooms incredible and the whole experience a real delight. Perhaps the most impressive thing, given... More

You just don't expect it.... OK so friends told us we HAD to stay here but it made our trip to Edinburgh. Firstly it is not a B&B as most people in Ireland or the UK would know B&Bs. This is a fantastic Edinburgh Town house built on an oversized scale. It's on a street which is cobbled, and has... More

We stayed here over a weekend in October. It certainly has the 'wow' factor - walking through the huge front door into an imposing entrance vestible was quite something. I have to say that whilst our bedroom (in the basement) was perfectly fine, I was slightly disappointed having seen the rest of the house before being shown to our room.... More

I stayed in one of the top floor rooms which overlooked the park (which I highly recommend) - the snowy white room was sunny and included a bathroom, dressing room and super large bedroom. The rooms were well maintained and spotless. The breakfast was personally cooked and great. I was able to comfortably enjoy the bar and the common rooms... More

We stayed here for a weekend following a tip from friends in Edinburgh who said it's *the* place to stay at. We blinked in astonishment when we arrived, it was the most amazing B&B we've ever seen (we felt like billionaires on a budget price). It also had some of the friendliest staff we've ever experienced, and we felt totally... More

I hate to share this experience with anyone else, because with only 5 rooms I fear that I won't be able to find a room for my next visit. However, I have no problem saying that this is the only place I will stay in Edinburgh - this is the second year running for us - and we bought a... More

Location: central, and yet quiet at night. easy walking to the main attractions, so park your car and forget it. Welcome: just great! felt at home immediately. Room: very light and spacious, extremely comfortable and with some style, as you would expect from such a lovely building. Bathroom: again, stylish and well equipped. Not for the less-able if you have... More

Discerning and discriminating travellers and tourists will be entranced by this imposing and charming New Town Georgian townhouse magnificently and sympathetically restored and refurbished to a fusion of original features and contemporary design . One Royal Circus’s charming location alone is sufficient to tempt me to enquire about availability for accommodation whenever I am in Edinburgh on business or pleasure... More

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
