Hotel's Favourite
We stayed in this hotel for two weeks in August during the fringe and we had stayed here also during our several earlier visits to Edinburgh. I can confidently say this is the best place to stay when in Edinburgh.
The location is awesome: a stone throw away from Princess street Shopping but a quieter location being away from the crowds. It’s also close to the St. James Quarters Mall and Multrees Walk High Street Shops. The Andrew’s Square bus stop is right across. It’s the starting point for the hop-on and hop-off sightseeing buses and some intercity buses. The stop for the Skylink buses to Edinburgh Airport is just a block away. Edinburgh Bus Station is just two blocks away roughly. The Tram station is just across the St. Andrew’s Park in front of the hotel. The park also acts as a good place to hang around especially in the summers. There is also a Costa in there.
Some excellent eating places are within less than two minutes of walk. This includes Dishoom the best Indian restaurant in Edinburgh and Bread Street Kitchen (a Gordon Ramsay restaurant).
The rooms are pleasantly furbished and spacious enough (depending on the room type one chooses). The breakfast Buffett is pretty decent just that it never changes. So this becomes a bit boring for visitors who are staying for longer duration.
The staff all across are extremely helpful, courteous and customer focused. I would especially like to call out and thank Samantha and Tatiana on front desk for all their support throughout our stay. They are always ready to walk some extra miles that can deliver customer happiness. And that’s the reason this hotel has almost become our permanent abode whenever we visit Edinburgh

We stayed at this hotel at the start of August and couldn't have had a better experience. We haven't been anywhere apart of the supermarket since we went into lockdown but decided to uphold this booking that was part of a larger trip to Edinburgh to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. When we checked in, we were given our key cards after they had been sanitised by the lady on reception. Upon reaching our room, I was overwhelmed by the size of it - essentially a suite, there were two rooms; a livingroom and separate bedroom with a wraparound balcony. In addition, we had been left a box of chocs, balloon and lovely card for our anniversary, which was a lovely surprise.
Breakfast was made up of usual Ibis fayre, but you're not allowed near the buffet and it is served by a member of staff. The tables in the eating area are appropriately distanced, with some tables blocked to allow for space between. All staff were wearing masks at all point and there is a mask and sanitiser station by the lifts. At no point did we feel unsafe and this is more than we could have asked for.

Absolutely wonderful experience from check-in to check-out. I arrived in Edinburgh early, around 10am, and Hotel Ibis Styles allowed me to check several hours early and made my transition from travel to stay seamless. Having some errands to run the next morning, they also allowed me a late check-in, which was so helpful.
Wonderful room. Excellent shower, excellent bed, delicious breakfast, awesome coffee machine 24/7. A perfect location for seeing downtown Edinburgh (both Old town and New town).
The customer service was above and beyond. Patrick, at the front desk, was incredibly helpful my entire stay and thoroughly knowledgeable for every question I had in navigating Edinburgh. Absolutely 5 Stars out of 5 Stars for Patrick and the entire customer service team.

We stayed here on Sunday 2nd Feb, after being to see the Lion King. Very handy location, rooms quirky and as there was 3 of us we were in an assisted room, which meant plenty of space. Checked in around 6pm by a friendly and knowledgeable male member of the reception team, he explained breakfast etc. We went up to the room to drop our bags and head out for some dinner. My friend went down for a cigarette and asked the same person about local area and places to eat, he was very helpful. When we returned later around 10pm, our room was cold and the heater was useless, firstly in wrong place in room and secondly wasn't working. My friend went down for a cigarette and asked for some extra blankets, these promptly arrived. We settled down for a restful nights sleep and that was okay until the roadworks started outside the hotel, I understand this can't be helped however it should be noted on the booking page.
We went downn for breakfast at 9.45, continental style, available until 10am. Several members of staff in area but not one interacted with us, either here or in the corridors. We gathered our food and drinks and took a seat at a shelved area across from the bar. We noticed a lot of workmen congregated in this area, then they started bringing in sheets of plywood, skirting boards etc and storing it opposite us in bar area. The staff from the hotel were clearing items from shelves area and clearing items away. The workmen started moving chairs and walking around us checking plans etc, making us feel very uncomfortable and rushed, surely if work needs to be done it should be done after people have finished eating and customers should be made aware if it in advance. Anyway, once finished we stood up to leave at 10.20am and my chair was pulled from me by a male member of staff, this really annoyed me, no way to treat a customer. He asked if we would like drinks to take upstairs. We then moved to the lift area, past reception where a male member of staff was standing behind reception smirking at us.
We returned to the room and opened the curtains to see the weather and we watched the workmen remove all chairs etc from dining room into a van outisde. I then noticed cigarette ash all over the window ledge and the inside of the frame, disgusting, my friend cleaned it up as she didn't want anyone to think it was us, it wasnt, she went out every time and wouldn't of smoked in room anyway as both her daughter and I suffer from bad asthma. We then started to look further and could see under the beds hadn't been hovered, top of headboard hadn't been cleaned etc, poor housekeeping standards.
When we checked out, we couldn't get out lift for workmen up ladders, totally unacceptable to be doing this level of work whilst having paying guests. On checkout a female member if staff asked us if we enjoyed our stay, I had to laugh, as we were all stood in a building site, with men in hard hats and hi viz jackets around us.
I complained via email on 4th Feb and to date have had no reply.

I stayed at the Ibis a few times whilst I was in Edinburgh as I used it as my base for travelling around Scotland. It's conveniently located near to Waverley Station as well as the bus station, there is also a nearby tram stop that will take you to the airport, so couldn't be any more convenient for anyone travelling in. There are a lot of restaurants nearby to suit any budget as well as pretty good sized supermarket just a short walk away. If you don't want to eat out then the hotel restaurant is also very good and reasonably priced.
The hotel is located in Edinburgh's New Town, very close to the Prince Street Gardens. You'll have to walk about 10 minutes to get into the Old Town - there are several uphill routes or steps to take up, or you can go via North Bridge which is less of an incline. I prefer staying in the New Town because although a lot of Edinburgh's sites are in the Old Town it's nice to be away from all of it whilst still being in close proximity.
I stayed in a variety of rooms across many floors. All of the rooms were of a good size, and even though one of them was near the elevators I wasn't disturbed by them. The rooms are clean and very comfortable, with good amenities. After my stay I even ordered some of the toiletries used because they were really good.
Overall, I think the Ibis Styles is a great place to stay whether this is your first visit to Edinburgh or if you are returning. Great location and very helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights on a recent trip to Edinburgh. On the whole a very good stay but for a couple of small things and it could have been excellent.
The Pros: All the staff we encountered were pleasant and very helpful. All adhered to the Covid rules and it felt a very covid safe environment. Breakfast was really nice as I was disappointed to find there was no cooked breakfast but I very much enjoyed the Continental style one they had on offer. The room was small, it was the smallest one on the floor, but did have a nice view of the square opposite. The bar area was very modern and comfortable. A nice place to sit at the end of the day. Despite my room facing a busy bus/tram route, you couldnt hear a single thing once the windows were shut. The bed was super comfy and very clean. The bedding was high quality and again, very clean. The aircon/heating unit was very efficient and easy to use. The general surfaces of the room were very clean, as was the sanitary wear in the bathroom, which had a lovely big, powerful shower. The toiletries supplied were nice too. There was a small gift in my room on arrival as it was my birthday - maybe a trade off for giving me the smallest room in the Hotel - but thank you, it was a nice touch.
The Cons: The main thing was the dirty carpet in the room, it needs a real good clean. The hoovering could hae been better and the high level dusting needs some attention too. Again the room was small, adequate for 2 nights, but felt a little confined. The TV had very basic chanels, not even freeview. The spotlight above my bed continually flickered and the phone charger point didnt work. The towels are really small, I`m a slim person and they barely went round me. Luckily I took my own tea/coffee as there was only enough for a cup each in the room. Room wasnt ready at the adertised time but we were able to leave our bags and go off and explore.
All in all a very nice little Hotel. Great location 5 minutes from the Station and Princes street shops. The designer Mall/Harvey Nicks just opposite and tram and bus stops immediately outside. Would highly reccommend.

Clean and comfortable hotel, great location, and super friendly and accommodating staff. I arrived with luggage and a bike, after having cycled in the Highlands for a week. The staff were super friendly, storing my bike in their cantina and then allowing me the next day to disassemble it there and put it in my bike bag. Every employee I spoke to in my two days there was friendly, polite, accommodating, welcoming. Hotels in the city on a Saturday night were all pricey, but the Ibis was competitively priced for the location and quality of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

Just back from a fantastic visit at the Ibis Styles with a friend. The hotel is in a great location close to all shops and restaurants. With the government guidelines in place face coverings are to be worn at all times and hands sanitised which was explained to us upon arrival, the hotel itself was spotless. Although a smaller hotel it didn’t lack in anything the rooms were spacious and decorated in a modern quirky way! I love the way the hotel is making a conscious effort to do their bit for the environment. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, very well organised table service with a sweet or savoury option- the best porridge I’ve had! My only criticism would be the room (404) was quite dark and we didn’t have the best of views so would pay a bit more if necessary for this but didn’t effect our stay. Thanks Ibis we will return!

We struggled to find a hotel (not realising that Scotland were playing England at rugby during our stay) and finally found this hotel. Having arrived at Waverley station, it was only a 5 minute walk to find the hotel. Our check in was quick and easy and our room was very nice with lovely comfy beds. and a lovely bathroom. There was everything we needed for a weekend stay and being able to help yourself to drinks in the foyer was a welcome touch on a very stormy weekend. Although there is work going on in the dining area, we were not disturbed by noise or mess. Breakfast was taken at the nearby Amarone restaurant and was of a great standard. This was a clean, very central hotel with lovely friendly staff. I will certainly return.

Spent three nights here recently as it was my husband’s birthday. Thanks guys for the cute birthday balloon and gifts. Really appreciated. The room was lovely and clean and comfortable with an amazing view from the sixth floor balcony. At breakfast you choose what you want from the continental menu and the staff bring it to your table. The hotel supplies face masks in pretty packaging and these sit next to the lift area beside sanitizer. The hotel is in a great location and really handy for everything. Staff were very friendly and I would recommend this hotel.
