Yesterday we had our daughters wedding reception at The Atholl. What an amazing venue for a small, intimate wedding. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was gorgeous and Graham was the perfect Master of Ceremonies. Everything ran perfectly and they made our daughters special day even more special.

My friend and I were staying in Edinburgh with a relative and, as a thank you, we arranged approximately 3 weeks before we arrived to have afternoon tea at The Howard after extensively looking on Trip Advisor reviews. My "vegetarian" friend made the reservation and was told no problem with her being a vegetarian. We arrived on the Sunday for...

after reading previous reviews that were excellent we decided to have afternoon tea here. Receptionist not particularly welcoming and initially went to seat us in what appeared to be the restaurant that contained two tables full of dirty dishes (we arrived at 4.30pm); however the young staff member subsequently looking after us was lovely and we were seated in a...

The reataurant provides a nice fine dining experience and the hotel the restaurant is in is extravagantly cheap for the 5 star luxury/butler service it provides. I stayed for about a month there while on a project and have since come back with a friend to share the experience. Great spot!

Stayed at the Atholl in the Cluny suite two weeks ago. We were there for 3 nights and had a fabulous time. Scott, the manager provided superb service, constantly attentive and always willing to help when required. The Cluny suite is perfect for a small family with open plan lounge and dinning area, kitchen and then two bedrooms. The lounge...

Wow wow wow pretty much covers it all at The Atholl. I was lucky enough to have my 30th birthday dinner in The Dundonald, one of their three bedroom suites. To say the hotel exceeded my expectations is an understatement. The suite itself was honestly out of this World. The living room alone which had been changed into our dining...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
