Would have loved to had stayed here based upon the reviews. However, their website would not allow me to book a stay as it appears it was malfunctioning. Attempts to get them to call me to handle the booking over the phone was met with please call us we won't call you. When all and said was done, the process...

Dear Needyouradvice It was very disappointing to hear about your experience. At the Chester Residence we strive for 5 star service in every facet of the business. This said, I am perplexed to say the least that one of our staff members would not have taking your call, or indeed have said that we would not call you back. All...

Having never stayed in a serviced apartment previously, we could not begin to describe our delight in discovering the "Chester Experience". The moment we arrived to the moment we departed, the customer service was exemplary not to mention the wonderful ambience created by a period property displaying many of its original features balanced with modern conveniences including induction cooking facilities,...

My wife, adult daughter and I spent 3 nights recently at The Chester and we loved it. We stayed in a spacious, modern 2 bedroom apartment that was absolutely fantastic and a lot less expensive than getting 2 rooms in The Balmoral or any other similar hotel. The location in Haymarket is extremely close to The Castle and Old Town...

A friend and I stayed here in November 2013 for a night in the Owners Residence. What a fantastic welcome we received- they greeted us and then gave us a small tour of the buildings and then took us to our luxury suite. From the Gucci throw's on the bed to the understated style of the living room, everything was...

The price was competitive. The service was good, and the location was decent. I enjoyed my stay here, but I don´t think that I would stay here again. We rented the penthouse apartment, and were disappointed to find that we had to climb about 80 steps to get to the elevator-less apartment. The space was very comfortable, and the apartment´s...

I booked two nights at the Chester Residence as a surprise for my boyfriend's birthday in October. From the moment we stepped out of the taxi, we were made to feel welcomed and special by the attentive staff (who were fantastic for the duration of our stay). I was impressed by the brilliant reviews and the look of the rooms...

We were only staying in Edinburgh one night having had a few nights in the borders, so were a little apprehensive about being in an apartment that it might be "too much" and over the top just for one day. Fortunately.. we were wrong! We were staying in the penthouse (8/1) which had great views. the apartment itself was very...

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Chester Residence and can't praise it enough. Our top floor apartment was beautifully furnished, extremely spacious with quality appliances. The huge bathroom had an excellent shower, with good pressure (something lots of hotels have not!), superb lighting and Molten Brown products. The kitchen was well appointed...

My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary with a trip to Edinburgh and used The Chestrer Residence as our base. First impressions were very good - attentive staff, a warm welcome and an early check-in. The appartment exceeded expectations - top notch fixtures and fittings. The kitchen was small (but perectly formed) and we used it for our...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
