This is a great property. You get a very modern apartment (ours was 1 bedroom, but f you are coming to Edinburgh with a family, get the 2 bedroom apartment) with a large living room, dining room and full kitchen. There is no restaurant, but they can arrange for breakfast in the morning or, with the fully equipped kitchen, you...

I was so pleasantly surprised to find out that this property is comprised of individual service apartments that's are so well appointed and tastefully decorated.... it's like having your own apartment in the heart of the city. Very quiet and extremely comfortable, will a large, lovely modern kitchen, living room/office, separate bathroom and dressing room. Not like your typical hotel...

My wife and I had been planning a trip to Edinburgh for years, and The Chester Residence made this dream destination of ours an even better experience than we imagined. Customer service was amazing on arrival where champagne and strawberries were waiting for us in the room...the perfect welcome after a day of traveling. Add on top of that, the...

My husband and I stayed here for one night with my mother-in-law, which made this apartment style setup perfect. We booked mostly on the word of the Trip Advisor reviews, and we were so glad we did. The apartment was more than comfortable. There were two bedrooms with big beds, three bathrooms, a gorgeous modern living room, dining area, and...

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights earlier this month. We had a penthouse apartment which provided distant views of the Castle. The Chester Residence is well located in a quiet part of the New Town. It's about a 20 minute walk to the Castle. Our apartment was well appointed however our lounge, although looking quite funky, wasn't...

I stayed at the Chester Residence on two separate occasions during our trip since we had a tour scheduled in between our stays in Edinburgh. They were nice enough to accommodate our early check in and this was great after such a long flight. The first stay was a 2 bed/2bath set up. This is a great set up for...

We have been travelling in scotland for 5 weeks staying in a variety of castles and bandb's This place stood out as high quality accomodation with room to relax Only negative is a mediocre breakfast offer, but plenty of good options within close walking I would recommend as a great place to stay so close to centre of town but...

Very spacious apartment. 3 rooms to ourselves. Kitchen/living room, bedroom with dressing area, and bathroom. There are 2 different buildings. We were not in the main building. The front desk staff were very friendly and informative.

Four of us stayed in a Mews 2 bed apartment for a short break. Large well appointed, with private courtyard garden. The location is quiet yet central and ideal for attractions as well as for bars and restaurants. Staff available 24/7 charming helpful and courteous.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

“As this is Georgian Edinburgh, the ceilings are hugely high - so this means long staircases. You might prefer a ground-level apartment.”
