Myself and my partner had one night stay in the owners residence of this fine hotel. Staff where amazing extra king size bed was enough room for me to far enough away from the partner haha. But on a serious note i have stayed in a number of Edinburgh's 5 star hotels and this hotel was by far the best....

One of the friendly ambassadors kindly took our luggage there for us. All staff during our 3 nights stay were friendly and chatty. It was a beautiful penthouse, with luvly views...

My hubby and I went to the Chester residence because we read the reviews on trip advisor. My word we were not disappointed. The place is not a hotel its like an apartment. The apartment was immaculate. Nothing is too much trouble, the staff were lovely. I have never felt so welcome at a place. We spent 3 beautiful days...

Stayed here in the first week of march these apartments were really spacious and nice. Rooms - Living room and bed rooms are separated by a corridor and this gave good privacy. The living room is spacious and was stocked with dvds and board games when we arrived, even some books. We had a whole table of welcome snacks including...

If you want to stay in a really large place with a living room, kitchen and bedroom then Chester Residence is a wonderful place. All the staff we encountered during our 2 night stay in February were very friendly and helpful. It felt like we were staying in a beautiful home instead of staying in just another hotel room. Definitely...

Stunning accommodation, spacious, modern, well located, friendly helpful staff. Close to the centre of Edinburgh We will be rebooking - can't recommend highly enough. We found staying this stunning apartment allowed us more freedom than a hotel but having the option of ordering a breakfast if we desired was a great advantage.

Returned home after our 4th Visit to the Chester Residence. It always is a superb stay, from the warm welcome to the high standards this hotel supplies. We love the old character decor that has remained after the refurbishment and its to such a high quality. We have stayed in 4 different rooms on Rothesay Place over the years and...

I doubt if you will find a better place to stay for the price anywhere near the centre of Edinburgh. The location is very convenient for the city centre, Princes Street, the tram line and the major bus routes. Our apartment was absolutely massive, well decorated, comfortable and welcoming. Before arriving, we thought we would have to fend for ourselves...

We visit Edinburgh regularly and usually stay in one of the big hotels in the centre. The Chester Residence is equally convenient but much, much nicer. The accommodations are actually large serviced apartments - we were very surprised to find that as well as a bedroom we had an entrance hall, huge lounge with very well equipped kitchen area at...

This is not a hotel room....it is a suite with three rooms and a bathroom! We were pleasantly surprised to find all this space!! From the doorman to the check-in staff, everything was perfect. Walkable distance to some pubs and restaurants, and to the main areas of Edinburgh. The room service for breakfast was the best! Very prompt and so...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
