This is a great hostel, best value in Edinburgh, friendly staff, very clean and wonderful facilities. Very short walk from all the main sights and attractions and slightly quieter than staying on the royal mile where I have stayed previously. Would definitely come again.

Budget is deadly. Price, location and staff are all top shelf. The rooms, kitchen, and bathrooms were all quite clean and spacious. The breakfast is FANTASTIC and the drink prices at the cute little VW themed bar are good. Do take a walking tour! I tell everyone to stay here, and I hope to go back!

This was my first time staying at this hostel and I really enjoyed it. The staff are extra friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The rooms and common areas (bar, chill room, kitchen and all bathrooms) are clean and organized. The food is good and inexpensive. The hostel is located in an area fairly close to everything so you can...

A great bar area where you can have a cheap drink, cheap food and meet people. Staff are very friendly and rooms are clean. In a great area of Edinburgh right next to grass market. Absolutely loved it

A friend and I decided to go to Scotland to die out our holidays doing a road trip and our last stop was Edinburgh. In a low cost trip this hostel was the best option. Both of us were nicely surprised when we realised that even with the crowded situation of the city due to the festival, the hostel was...

After reading some of the reviews on here before i arrived i was nervous it was gonna be a noisey place, however even with my ear plugs (yes i was prepared) i didnt find it bad at all, the reception team were very friendly, rooms were very clean (which isnt always the case in hostels) and so were the toliets/showers,...

This hostel is one of cleanest I have stayed in! The staff were all really friendly and happy to help out! There was space to dry yourself in the cubicle after having a shower (a big + for me!!) There was a bit of noise from the street, but it is on Cowgate, one of the more popular streets, during...

We stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of fringe to explore the city. We had absolutely no problem with noise once we put earplugs in, the only noise we heard was the sounds of fringe and cars; which is expected because of its central location. This hostel was the most expensive of all the ones we...

Hey Charley . Thank you so very much for the great review you have given us. Yes our awesome location is such a great spot to experience the festival and Yes it can get very party central outside during the Fringe which adds such a great positive vibe to the city. I would not recomment these hostel during august aka festival time, despite the fact that it is central. Our six bed room was beyond noisy from the evening to 3 a.m. the whole weekend! Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to review us . We are sorry that you experienced noise in your room you where in. We are located in the heart of the festival district but we don't normally get any problems from noise as all our windows at the street level are double glazed. We have investigated the noise...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
