The Townhouse is located in the best part in the city of Edinburgh - New Town. But you got to be young, healty and fit to fully appreiciate the Townhouse. It is 46 stairsteps to reach the reception on the 3rd floor - no elevator! With luggage this is a real challenge! My room was rather small and no space...

Great location central to Edinburgh - only a walk away from the main attractions. Very clean and tidy with helpful and friendly staff! Our room was very stuffy with no way of getting fresh air in. Would recommend for good access to the central city.

The Townhouse is in a quiet street In walking distance from Waverley Station and the Royal Mile. A comfortable room and friendly helpful staff made for a good one night stay. Some may find the few flights of stairs to reception and up to the rooms a challenge.

This place is quaint and quirky. Our room included a view of the castle, which was fantastic. It was a good size room that included squeaky floors, a weird shower box for those coming from the US - it's far more common in the UK, super clean bedding, extremely helpful staff, close to everything and started on the third floor....

This is a nice place. It is close to the centre of the town. The room was clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place when traveling to Edinburgh. I would recommend to book in advance.

No elevator which is fine but it would have been nice to know this from their website. My 72 year old husband had to carry 3 heavy suitcases up four flights of stairs to our room while a young man who worked there stood by and watched without offering any assistance. No air conditioning, which is fine but it would...

The Edinburgh Townhouse is right in the center of Edinburgh. Some rooms have a view on Edinburgh Castle. All facilities were clean and the room was nicely decorated. It seems to be common for guesthouses to provide coffee and tea in the room, which is a nice add on. As they are not offering breakfast in the Townhouse they have...

Great location. Accomodation is clean and comfortable and the lady who runs the business is friendly and helpful. The only problem is the fact that there are a lot of stairs but that is clearly stated in the information.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
