Small but very clean and comfortable room. Excellent service from very helpful staff. Generous well cooked breakfast with plenty of choice. Has become our hotel of choice when we stay in Edinburgh. Very reasonable rates for a city hotel.

We just needed a bed for the night in Edinburgh. Everything thing was good enough for what we needed. We stayed in one of the small double rooms. It was very compact but comfortable and quiet. Didn't try the breakfast so can't comment on that. Great location, North of the city centre - about 20 minute walk into the city...

This is a quirky little boutique hotel that, in my opinion, is not walking distance to the major tourist locations in Edinburgh, although it's close to a bus stop and right next door to the Botanical Center. If you're young and like to walk, then it's fine. We are mid-60s and prefer to do our walking at the historical sites....

This is a small hotel just beyond the central city but an easy walk & right on three bus routes. It is across the street from the Botanical Garden, a must-see in this city. The rooms are well-appointed & beautifully decorated in an understated way. The public areas are graceful, befitting the vintage look of the place. Breakfasts have several...

We really enjoyed our trip to this fab city and stayed at this nice hotel. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was also good. I was disappointed with the room given the price we paid. It was worn and in need of some serious updating. It was also very small. But it served the purpose and it certainly...

A really lovely apartment with all you could need, pleasantly surprised by the size. Would defiantly go back. It's a 15 min walk into the city. Lounge, kitchen, double and twin room with fitted kitchen nicely decorated.

During the busiest month for Edinburgh we could only get a room here, I was a bit concerned by the bad comments about it, but we had a very very nice experience, we slept good every night and we had a wonderful breakfast every morning, the personal from the hotel were always helpful and nice, the only downside is the...

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
