Used an Itison voucher for 2 mains & wine which was amazing value for money. The chicken sandwiches and fries were delicious and the house rose was great too. Additional glasses of wine were provided at a special offer rate which made this a great meal out for very little money. Our initial waiter wasn't that bothered about us but...

Stayed over the weekend on the lowest level of the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised as many reviews mention noise, but we had two great nights' sleep! The room was lovely and clean, and the bed so comfortable! With little extras like straighteners, you really get everything you need. The real strong point of Rick's is its staff. They are...

Rick's is one of my regular haunts with friends and family. The food has always been great and staff always welcoming and friendly. They do a special offer every day- 2 mains for lunch for £10 or 2 courses for dinner at £10. However they are a tad cheeky and don't always offer you this- so make sure and ask...

We stayed here recently on an Itison deal, so we only paid £99 for bed, breakfast and a bottle of prosecco. Obviously this is really good value for money but as I had fancied staying here for a couple of years I'm quite glad we got the bargain. We arrived a bit earlier than our check in time but got...

Friendly staff and good service, rooms are rather dark and bit tared out. Good breakfast, bar and cocktails. No elevators and the stairway are not spacious. But we would stay here again - fine value for our money

Started out meeting a friend here for lunch and ended up staying for the day. Started off at a quiet table. Ended up at the busy bar. Tasty food, wine and cocktails. Pleasant modern environment. Attentive staff. A perfect combo. Ive been here a few times and I'll be back.

Our stay at Rick's from 8th to 10th of December was excellent. Lovely room friendly staff we eat at the hotel our first night and the quality of food was outstanding. Will definitely stay again on our next visit to Edinburgh.

Booked here after my Christmas night out for the night to save trains. Barely slept at all with trucks turning up all night emptying bins full of bottles. Shame because everything is really nice. Wouldn't recommend staying here at all.

Great location, Staff were very friendly, good breakfast (apart from food being cold, no beans and coffee cups to small). Room was far too hot and couldn't open the window due to being at street level,

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
