Travelodge Edinburgh Central Queen Street offers a convenient central location that is popular among travelers for exploring city attractions. However, some guests have called out the hotel for its atmosphere, noting the cheap furnishings and lack of amenities. The hotel's cleanliness is generally commended, but issues such as noise disturbances and basic amenities often mar the experience. While the staff receives praise for their helpfulness, many travelers feel that the hotel does not provide good value, pointing to overpricing and additional charges for services like WiFi.

Situated on a busy road with no parking this hotel is however in a good location for sight seeing in Edinburgh. Check in was ok and i paid a premium for a room on the 'Business' floor which was supposed to be quiet. To be fair there was no real noise from other guests but poor room windows meant that external noise was not reduced. In addition the windows need draught proofed as the heater in the room cannot combat the cold draughts. Also the shower needs upgraded as it is little more than a dribble and not what is expected in this day and age.

WiFi is charged at £3 for 24 hours for two devices which is reasonable.

Apart from that the room was ok for an over-night stay but certainly wouldn't stay any longer.

My stay was very comfortable. I was visiting on business for 2 nights. The hotel's location was really convenient- 10 minutes from the train and 10 minutes from the course venue in Princes Street. I stayed in the massive room 118 and it was total peace and quiet both nights. Well stocked coffee facilities (you can help yourself to the supplies in reception if you run out). The basic facilities were all clean and in good working order. Wall heater in the room kept things at a pleasant temperature during my snowy stay. I slept really well both nights. The knowledgeable desk staff's breakfast recommendation at Tani Modi 2 minutes' walk around the corner was spot on. Safe area for a woman staying on her own. (Perhaps reception could show female guests which room number they have written rather than read it out loud when you check in by yourself as the area gets busy).

Spent two nights in the Travelodge in Queen Street. I thoroughly recommend this for a budget stay in Edinburgh. The staff were very friendly and kind, allowing us to leave our bags before check in and after check out for no charge. The room was clean and comfortable and there is plenty of coffee, tea and milk available, with refills free from reception. Comfortable beds meant we woke refreshed next day - didn’t hear any noise from outside or inside the hotel. The location is within short walking distance of Princes Street. Great pubs and restaurants nearby.

Typical travelodge, comfy beds, but bigger than normal family room. Very helpful staff. We were checked in by Alan (hope i got the name right) who went above and beyond to ractify a small issue at check in. Be mindful of parking as due to its very central location there is no free parking anywhere closer. On street paid parking is available on one minute walk.

So we made a start to our trip to Edinburgh by checking in to our Travelodge. We were half an hour early and the member of staff at the desk kindly let us check in early which was amazing. Getting to our room, we realised the room was not quite as advertised. The room definitely wasn’t as modern looking as the photos and for the bathroom, it was absolutely tiny and the shower didn’t seem very clean. We went about our day enjoying the lovely sights in the city and had a tough night sleep on the rock hard bed, these were very squeaky and weren’t particularly comfortable to sleep on at all. My boyfriend in fact barely slept soundly our entire stay. We went on our next day and the hotel claimed to offer to top up your towels each day. The old ones weren’t taken and the new ones were just placed on the bed without the room actually seeming to be cleaned our entire stay and our bed left unmade which I thought was a pretty standard thing in a hotel when staying for longer than a night.

Overall the staff were lovely and really helpful and did help as much as they could. I don’t feel like whoever is cleaning the room does a great job as the carpet didn’t seem very clean and our room wasn’t cleaned each morning when we left for the day. Finally, I feel the hotel is in an amazing location in the city and the staff are very friendly and helpful but feel it needs some big upkeep and better cleaning standards.

Have used many Travelodges before so not a first time user, however probably the worst we have stayed in. Friendly welcoming staff when we saw them. Location in a city centre was fantastic and despite this it was also very quiet for noise outside of the hotel. Great for positioning for restaurants and sights. HOWEVER the room was very poor, we were a family of 3 but had hanging space suitable for one; no cupboards or drawers so had to live out of cases all week. Room lacked places to put things - one extremely small desk with one chair, had to sit down on beds all time as nowhere else. Bathroom wasn't great with no gels and soap and bath generally looked unclean. We did get clean towels everyday but other topups like tea and coffee very hit and miss. Would use travelodge again, but not this particular hotel.

Firstly they advertise rooms at a low price until you go to book them then price seems to increase. This has happened before when I have booked rooms never had a room at the price they advertise. The hotel is adequate for what I wanted but the toilet room needs updating or repairs done to it. Reception staff excellent. Room cleaners need to take more time in checking the laundry they put on the bed does not have paint stains and the chair isn’t soiled. Location is good for what we wanted. Car parking could be closer.

I stayed alone in a double room with a long narrow view over back gardens to adjacent buildings. The room was a good size, well furnished with an armchair and an upright chair for use on a ledge table where there was a kettle. The bathroom was compact but not at all squashed and well lit. The bed was very comfortable.
There were a couple of issues which could be improved or were a problem.
There were three curtained windows. The curtains of the nearest to the bed did not reach the end of the rail so light was admitted during the early hours which I find can wake me up. Perhaps the gap could be closed by adjustments to the curtain hooks and/or rail.
My main problem was total lack of internet connectivity in the hotel for my network provider. I gather this is so for several networks. WhatsApp connectivity in the room and the hotel staircase was intermittent.

Despite that issue, the staff could not have been more helpful or more friendly. I made a booking for an extra night at a different Travelodge in error. Two staff members, Alan and Ana, were involved in arranging my transfer via emails to Central Bookings, and without hesitation, Ana offered to print my airline booking documents for me which later Alan did and left at reception. I felt I could ask them for assistance relating to my stay beyond what was relevant to Travelodge. So overall I recommend Travelodge and of course this particular hotel has a superb location in the centre of the city.

Me and my partner stayed for one night to check out St James Quarter and lets just say this Travelodge needs a little update.

From the outside, it fits perfectly with the feel of Edinburgh however you could mistake if the building was a Travelodge. This is due to only having a faded flag on display to let you know. Otherwise the location is perfectly central for everything you may need.

When entering it seemed quite modern in the reception area making it seem like the hotel has been updated to fit the image of the newer Travelodge’s. However that feel of modern stops there. The corridors are narrow so be wary of other guests around and the building itself seems like a maze.

I stayed in room 116 and the room was good, fits in with the older version of the brand. The only issues had were that the lighting wasn’t great in the room. The strip light behind the bed gave off more light than the rest of the lights in the room. Also the walls are thin so be wary of where you are placed in the hotel and who your neighbours are.

The only reason I wouldn’t recommend this room is due to be on level to a cobbled road outside your window which you can hear glass bottles being thrown into bins very early in the morning.

Almost certainly you need to book it, but best to ask the hotel directly. Good choice of hotel though as it is very central!

Does the rooms have a mini fridge and is there anywhere I can do my own laundry Thank you
London, United Kingdom
Good morning, no we do not have a mini fridge in any of our rooms. There is no where on site to do your own laundry, however, there are a few launderette services around the city where you could either do it yourself or have them do it for you. Hope this helps
