Due to past experiences with Travelodge they would not normally be my choice when looking for somewhere to stay but we had a great stay. Our room faced some kind of internal courtyard so was nice and quiet. The room was clean and the hotel is in a great location. For the amount of money I paid I would 100%...

We decided to go to Edinburgh just before Christmas and we booked this Hotel. It's a fairly good location, being a short/medium walk from the train station. The receptionist was very friendly. The room was basic but very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay. On our last day we were able to leave our luggage all day, and collect in the...

We booked this as a central stop over from the airport to train station. Good location just a couple of streets behind Princes Street. Busy night life in the area but this didn't impact on the peaceful nights sleep. Edinburgh is a lovely city which is worth visiting.

If on a budget but after a central Edinburgh location this is a safe choice at a very reasonable price. Rooms large (wheelchair friendly), clean and quiet. Bed is two singles pushed together but comfortable. No facility to have breakfast in the hotel so head out on to Queen Street turn left and left again and breakfast in Cafe Rouge.

Stayed here on a trip to Edinburgh. Location good although really hard to get parked especially now that they are taking down the multi-storey at York Place. Just a reception, no bar or restaurant, they do a breakfast box. Booked an accessible room as I wanted twin beds, unlike other hotels Travelodge does not do twin beds which to me...

Can't really fault this Travelodge at all. Excellent location on Queen Street, walking distances to George St/Princes St and anywhere else really. Rooms are small but spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff at reception. Would definitely recommend if you just need a central no frills place to put your head down and explore this wonderful city.

Clean and quiet good position in the city Lovely restaurant, Saint Honore, around the corner - virtually at the back of the hotel. Helpful staff - left luggage after check out - donation to charity. Far cheaper than train station.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
