We were sad to leave. The Excellent Breakfast. Fresh Fruit, Fresh Bread, Freshy brewed Coffee.Fresh Pati, Fresh Cheeses and hams from all over the word. The Service was WOW. From John the Manager to Eilidh, Nathan the Reception Staff to Callum, Lee, Kinrad and Joanne. All cheerful, all willing too do whatever service a guest needed. From phoning Taxi's to...

Just stayed here for 2 nights. First impressions were ok, staff member who booked us in was very nice and even gave us the £1.60 bus fare should we want to go back into town. Room was okish! No coffee, hardly any sugar, no milk, no teaspoons. I did ask on the way out for teaspoons and when we got...

Thankfully we only spent 7 hours in this hotel and we were asleep for 6 of those. We checked in late after a great afternoon and early evening in Edinburgh. Parking in the side streets is free over the weekends (see there is at least one positive) We charged up our electronics braved the bathroom and went out into the...

Bed bugs crawling over you...enjoy your next 3 weeks with typical bite paths. Breakfast was more than twice as expensive as in a near cafe and really nothing. It's quite rude to run a hotel like this.

Nothing could have prepared us for our arrival to OR. The exterior looked impressive but that disappeared once you crossed the threshold. Unfinished paintwork. Tired furniture, carpets uneven and loose especially across the door threshold. Our room, no plug in sink, lights not working, beds hardly made, after inspecting the cleanliness gave up after seeing what was viewed between the...

The OR Hotel is a great hotel for exploring Edinburgh for a short break. The hotel itself is located at the end of the Haymarket almost at Murrayfield. This location is great for watching the Rugby of catching a concert. The hotel itself has great size rooms and very helpful staff. The breakfast is a good cold buffet and staff...

The Stuff is very friendly. The rooms are big enough (if you book as suite u will have 3 rooms) and the siutes have a nice view. Bus stop is in Front of the hotel. You can catch a bus to the airport nearby. The room was relativley clean for UK Standards. In comparision to Germany a catastrophe.

Really sweet hotel with very friendly staff, conveniently placed only 5 minutes walk from Haymarket station, or a 30 second walk from Wester Coates bus stop where the Airlink bus stops. Good value and nice breakfast, would definitely go again.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
