Really friendly and helpful staff, rooms are very spacious and perfect place to stop if you are attending a rugby game at Murrayfield as it is approx a 5 min walk from Haymarket station and a 20 min walk from Murrayfield

The staff are nice and accommodative but the rooms in the basement of the main building are right next to the kitchen and have no noise insulation. It's impossible to sleep through the clanging of plates in the morning. The hosts were nice enough to move us to a separate room on the 2nd floor of the adjacent building but...

Had a great welcome and our room (33) was a large family room. My wife and I were in Edinburgh on business and the location was great. The problem was the room was cold as the heating wasn't on early enough for the cold snap we just experienced. The shower leaked so the bathroom was wet and the water was...

Stayed here with family on 14 and 15th April 2017. Excellent and spacious place to stay, very near to the Haymarket Train, Tram and Bus station. (Walk-able). Nice, Clean and very traditional appearance. Friendly staff and you feel comfortable. Would recommend on any given day.

Haymarket Hotel is located very close to the railway station and a tram stop connecting Haymarket with the Airport and central parts of old and new town in Edinburgh. Haymarket hotel is located in an old Edwardian house with rooms in the building next to the breakfast room and reception. We were initially skeptical when followed to our room in...

Great hotel only 10-15 mins walk from the centre, also in bus, tram and Airbus route so easy to get around. The hotel consists of three adjacent blocks and our room was on the basement in the 2nd block. The room was large and had 3 x single comfortable beds. Normal stuff in the room , hairdryer, ironing board, iron...

The hotel is nice and the price seems reasonable for what you get. The hotel has it's own bar and offers laundry service, etc. The hotel is located really close to the haymarket station and that means the bus no. 100 (airport express) is a few steps away. The location of the hotel is also within the walking distance to...

Myself and my partner recently stayed at the hotel during a short break away to Edinburgh. The hotel is in a convenient location being just a short walk from Haymarket station. However we found we could walk into the city centre within 20 minutes so we did that instead. The hotel does look a bit tired on approach but we...

Great staff, good breakfast, spacious rooms. Hotel could do with a bit of a refresh but that's not an issue. Rather we really think that room and bathroom could have been cleaned more thoroughly though

The hotel is perfectly located, 15min walk from the city center. I had a better room than booked (double instead of single bed). Staff was really nice. The room was great, spacious, clean, beautiful and with all the furnitures I could need. The value is great, pretty cheap price according to the quality! Only advice for the hotel: you should...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
