With my wife we went to celebrate our anniversary and stay in this hostal. To make the story short, they give us a very bad service and clients don't mean anything to them, they just want your money and ruin your holidays. I will never come back to this Hostal.

Stayed here with a group of friends so didn't spend much time in the room. We got 3 rooms in total which were a bit on the small side but clean, tidy and in a nice area just a few minutes walk to pubs and shops. Staff were quiet but friendly enough. Overall a nice stay and great value.

Great value for money and very friendly staff. Unfortunately we only were there for a night but we enjoyed it. The location is great as it is in walking distance from city centre and the area very quiet and beautiful. For sure we are going to visit it again

Welcomed by the friendliest of owners who made us feel very welcome. The property is located in a charming traditional street overlooking a communal garden. The property was easy to find although located some distance from the station. The property is dated and it's true that luxury is not what is offered but if you want a place to lay...

We came as a group of 4 girls for one night at the Edinburgh fringe and this hotel was the cheapest option. We checked in quite late so paid the extra fee, which is pretty normal for b and bs. The room was a good size, the ceilings were very high, it was clean and tidy and the bed was...

The room was very small but at least, clean. There's not free wi-fi, you have to pay 3£ each day for it. The price was a bit higher than expectations because of the festival. The staff was kind and helpful.

Stayed one night here for the Edinburgh festival. Very poor value for money. Was charged over £200 for one night b and b which was booked through booking.com. Rooms were nothing like the photos shown. The whole building was shabby, not very clean and run by disinterested staff. Almost zero soundproofing, which could be embarrassing for couples ! Worn out towels...

I was a little bit worried after reading some of the reviews on here, and I was preparing myself for the worse. The room however had no problems at all; I had a great sleep and didn't hear anyone moving about until about 9. (The same noises you're likely hear in any B&B or hotel). We didn't really need to...

It was in a convenient location for us. Bedside light did not work. Shaving light did not work - permanently disabled? Noisy from 5am onward. Only continental breakfast available at £5/head extra. I expect cooked breakfast in a B&B. Curtains let in a lot of light. Nights are very short at summer solstice in Scotland! No spoons or sticks to...

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
