We enjoyed our stay at the B+B Edinburgh. It's in a nice, quieter location of the busy city but it's close enough that everything is in close walking distance. Breakfast is wonderful and the duty managers are very helpful. Only bit of criticism is the price of the hotel for the service you get...housekeeping barely changed our linen even though...

While possibly £125 a night is a bit expensive (would be interested to see what their rates are when the Tattoo and Fringe are not on!), this place was pretty great. Beautiful building, clean rooms, nice decor and a brilliant breakfast including cooked options. Quiet and in a great location - walking distance from tram.

Beautiful building in historic Edinburgh. We were able to easily walk to main areas of Edinburgh for tourist activities, linkage to train stations and restaurants. Edinburgh has done such a wonderful job of preserving and using it's older buildings, like this B+B. Check out the Library.

Beautiful building and accommodating staff. Room was a good size with a great view over Edinburgh. Close proximity to city centre and links to airport via train or bus. Personal touches made to room to cater for our wedding anniversary making it that extra special. Would visit again and recommend to everyone to try something different than the regular corporate...

Beautiful building tastefully maintained but with a really modern feel. Room was a decent size with a huge shower room and very nice finishes. Made up daily. Breakfast was high quality and served local products and haggis! Location is a 5 minute walk from Princes Street...there are closer however this is in a nice neighbourhood. Really easy checkout process and...

B&B Edinburgh was AWESOME. Such a quaint little traditional B&B. Staff was beyond great..always friendly and so helpful with everything. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. It's in a nice location a little ways out from the hustle and bustle, but not too far that you can't walk to everything downtown, including the Royal Mile, etc. Breakfast in the morning...

You walk in and the entrance hall should and does take your breath away. It is a unique and very special high Scottish Victorian industrialist's dream of class. The marble, the star case and the wooden panelling is just absolutely exquisite and only bettered by the Library upstairs on the first floor - so special, so untouched but still somehow...

We had never been to Scotland before and decided to use a tour company. The B+B Edinburgh was the hotel we started and ended the tour in. As it worked out, it was also the hotel we stayed in a few days before the tour and would have after if they had had room for us! The building once belonged...

Location - The hotel is within walking distance of everything. There is shopping, the old Dean Village, Edinburgh Castle, a huge variety of restaurants! Parking, though, is a pain. There are metered parking spots just at the end of the block that you have to put money in every few hours during the day. At night though, it is free...

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
