Beautiful room with a view of Edinburgh Castle. Very friendly staff and delicious breakfast in the morning. We were able to walk to the Royal Mile and take a bus to Leith from a block away. This was the end of the fringe festival and we were able to enjoy a huge fireworks display on Monday evening in front of... More

A travelling companion and I stayed here for one night. This B&B is at the higher end of my usual travelling budget, but was one of the few rooms available in the last week of August (I left booking a bit late...). You do get what you pay for. The location was great - far enough out of the hustle... More

We got married here in May, with a simple humanist ceremony in the Findlay room and drinks reception in the library. The staff went out of their way to make everything perfect, and our 30 guests were all very impressed with the high standard of accommodation and breakfast. Couldn't recommend Paul and the team more highly, and would love to... More

The B&B Edinburgh is one of the best Inns I ever stayed at. The staff are always very polite and helpful which always make the stay so much more pleasant. I showed up 30 min early for breakfast and they had no problems starting breakfast for me! The family suite is spacious and very clean with great views. There is... More

We recently spent 5 nights here while visiting the Military Tattoo and Fringe Festival. This B+B has a very central location, comfortable rooms and some charming public areas especially the lovely library on the first floor. The staff was friendly and helpful and we would like to recognize Gabor and Laura for all their help. We will definitely stay here... More

A very cosy hotel in one of the magnificent Georgian streets of Edinburgh's New Town. Full of historical charm and period details. The staff are excellent and the rooms are modern and clean. One minor point is that our room was a bit stuffy and damp smelling but we opened the window to air it and it was fine after... More

Nice place to stay. Amazing accommodations and facilities. Clean and comfortable room. Modern and comfortable, in spite of being a Georgian building. A lot of history there. Amazing staff, always glad to help. Have the most amazing Scottish breakfast. Go up to the first floor and have a tea on the library and enjoy the sights. Feels Like home.

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
