Neighbourhood
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

We booked this for 2 nights, welcomed lovely from reception when we arrived. Breakfast was very nice and good value for money. Location, only slightly out of centre so not badly positioned. Room was immaculately clean, couldn’t ask for more than that. Would stay again as overall

it's not in the main part of the city but with the Dean Village right in the back yard it's worth the extra 10 min walk. the breakfast was also very good and there are free coffee and tea in the lobby.

Excellent value for money, close to all amenities Edinburgh has to offer. Would definitely stay here again. Unlimited fresh hot coffee in reception was very welcome when returning to hotel as weather was very cold wet and windy..

Any recommendations for reasonably priced places to eat nearby please?
Nearby? The Bonham about a block away was great. The Devil's Advocate, about a mile walk, or short cab ride was great too.

Do you have parking facilities?
Hi Susan The closest public car park would be the NCP Castle Terrace car park, post code is EH1 2EW and its located about 15 minutes walk away from the hotel. From 6:30pm until 8:30am the parking on the street is free, and during the day you could park in one of the meter spaces nearby.

How far is the airport and roughly what would a taxi cost thanks
Good evening, Thank you for your enquiry. Our hotel is around a half an hour drive from the Edinburgh Airport and the cost of the taxi should not exceed £20. Should you have any further enquiry, please do not hesitate to contact us again. Kind Regards, Ewa
