I am a hilton Diamond member . I don't normally stray but made in exception for this new build with full suites . I didn't ask Did you put a HVAC system in the building? No ventilation system ( i.e Air conditioning) One tiny window opens a bit but you can't close blinds if you except a drop of air....

This was a really nice hotel - modern, spotlessly clean, very spacious room with good en-suite ( although strangely wash hand basin was outside bathroom). Breakfast area beside reception was surprisingly small for the size of the hotel. Good variety of food provided. Friendly staff at reception. We have been coming to Edinburgh for many years but had never stayed...

Was a pleasant stay for a night. The room was clean the shower had great water pressure and bed was super comfortable. There's a lot of restaurants surrounding the area that offer great food as well if you're looking for a quick bite before heading out to a meeting. Recommended for a convenience and cleanliness. Did want to extend the...

We took our two and a half year old grandson away for long weekend in Edinburgh. Residence Inn was perfect both in location and as a hotel. We booked a king bed suite that consisted of a separate bedroom and living room with kitchen. We also ordered an extra fold away bed, this setup meant we could put the little...

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights for our first visit to Edinburgh. Centrally located it's ideally placed, yet our room was nice and quiet. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a kitchenette, hosting kettle, toaster, sink and refrigerator, allowing us to eat small meals and make hot drinks in our room. The bed was very comfortable,...

To the airport is half an hour by taxi, bu you can get there by train as well. Very clean and pleasant. A specilly would like to...

We were really pleased with this hotel for our 3 night stay. It is located around 6/7 minutes walk from the Royal Mile and has good bus routes nearby which we used to get to/from the Royal Yacht Britannia, the Botanical Gardens and also to get to Princes Street one evening (as the return journey is up hill) - £4...

Stayed for a week mixing business/leisure. Cannot recommend highly enough! Rooms large, spacious, modern, clean. Can open windows was a big plus for me! Staff could not do enough for you, very attentive. Breakfasts superb and again breakfast staff very helpful. Car park underneath. Prices OK for middle of Edinburgh. Very quiet one way street outside. Definately stay again. Easy...

This was the ideal location for our long weekend in Edinburgh. First, the location is very good, with easy access to restaurants, a grocery store nearby, and the old town is quite close. Our room was quite large, with a king-sized bed, sofa, desk, wood floors, and area rugs. The bathroom was small (toilet & large shower, small sink area...

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
