Myself and 8 friends ate here on the 3rd December and had their Christmas meal. 3 courses with prosecco on arrival for £25. Between us we had the pate, salmon and soup for starters; turkey and beef for mains; and the christmas pudding, apple sponge, chocolate parfait and cheese for desserts. Not one person had a complaint about their food...

Visited here recently for some food with friends and was less than impressed, firstly after being seated we were not served for fifteen minutes and it was very apparent the server was new. We ordered finger food which took forever to arrive and when it did it was look warm. The food was put on the table and at this...

Stayed at this beautiful well positioned hotel with my husband and friends after a day at the footie. Staff are friendly and helpful. There is a lovely ambient feel to the place with tasteful decor and really clean throughout. We ate in the bar, food was great and reasonably priced. Drinks were also reasonable and the cocktails were fab. The...

Stayed here for 1 night with my family and the room was lovely. Nice decor and very clean with very helpful staff. Location in the meadows was superb with lovely parkland and 15 minutes walk to the centre! Lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby and 1 minutes walk from a bus stop! The bar was lively and nicely laid...

This hotel is in a decent location with frequent buses to Princes Street etc. There is a good sized restaurant and bar. The noise levels from the water system were unreal. Every time we or our neighbouring rooms turned on a tap or shower it was like a loud drill in our room. This is especially annoying during the night...

A group of us were going to an event in Edinburgh and wanted to book a hotel which was not in the centre as the event was further out of town. Came across this place and decided to book. When we arrived, having walked from the centre, we were greeted by David, who booked us in with the minimum of...

Thank you so much for your review! I'll be sure to pass on your comments to David, we love to hear when our staff make a good impression! I'm sorry that you were disturbed by people smoking outside - although we try to discourage people from using the beer garden after 10pm, as Scottish law prohibits smoking in public places...

my mother inlaw and I stayed here last Wednesday night, what a lovely surprise. The hotel is superb, the staff were so helpful and friendly, the room immaculate and the breakfast brilliant. My daughter lives in Edinburgh and this hotel will be our first port of call on our frequent trips to see her. I would recommend it to anyone.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
