This is a fabulous hotel, ideally placed for exploring Edinburgh and further afield. The building is Georgian but internally very modern. We stayed in the hotels only family room. It's a fabulous room and well worth booking in advance to make sure you don't miss out! A large room with two double beds, huge bathroom with bath and separate shower,...

In a great area, right near the all the shops, train station and bus stops. Rooms were gorgeous and clean, fully stocked complementary mini bar on both days we stayed. Breakfast was really nice and service was prompt. Held our luggage until 4pm whilst we explored before our train. Would 100% recommend and will stay again.

Really nice friendly boutique hotel, we didn't arrive to late but the hotel was more than happy to let us check in late, after checking in we asked for some recommendations which again the staff was more than happy to give us. Room was really nice and very clean, bed was comfortable and gave us a good night sleep. We...

I enjoy Hotel Indigo's and this is consistent with the others I have stayed in. It is a stylish boutique offering with a comfortable bed and a good shower. Breakfast is ok. Wifi has improved ( it used to be awful). Convenient location for central Edinburgh.

There's so much choice of where to stay in Edinburgh I found it really hard to find a well priced, well located hotel. Look no further. Set away from the hustle and bustle of Princes Street Hotel Indigo, sat on York Place really comes up trumps! Ideal location to visit lots and lots of places.

Overall we were impressed with Hotel Indigo. A friendly welcome following a courtesy call the day before we arrived was all followed by a very spacious and comfortable room. Parking is easily accessible at the nearby Omni Centre; guests at the Indigo get discounted rates so remember to validate your token at reception. Wifi in the room was very weak...

We stayed at Hotel Indigo in January 2017 as a birthday treat to me from my partner. I love the Indigo chain having stayed in Glasgow several times and York at Christmas. Both these hotels excelled in every way and we booked Hotel Indigo Edinburgh based on our positive experiences of these other hotels. As it was a special occasion...

Dear ScottishLass79, Thank you for staying with us during your special day and for enumerating the good, the bad and the opportunities to improve. Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
