This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Dirty rooms, old lumpy beds, no hand towel in bathroom extremely unfriendly female in charge. She demanded payment before we had even set our bags down and they charge 5% for using a DEBIT card. Clearly if you paid at the end of your stay you would want a reduction....

Spent 2 nights at Merlin House Hotel, never again, rooms tired bathroom dirty, shower tiny, bed hard, no wardrobe and to cap it all noisy guests at 2am. Breakfast was continental but passable. £5 surcharge on paying by debit card. Which had to be paid in full on arrival. Spotted blood on walls in landings, which were cleaned next day,...

I wish I'd read the reviews before booking! I'll start with what I liked, and that was it was somewhere to get me out of the cold weather outside, and somewhere to charge my phone. Having a bus stop for route 25 right outside is most useful (bear in mind a single into Edinburgh city centre is £1.50 as of...

Firstly, not the most welcoming people thy seem pretty weird. It's very deceptive from the outside. It's looks nice until you walk in. We booked a double room and ended up with 4 beds. The shower was pathetic, had to bodge it to get hot water but it would be easier to shower using the sinks tap. Untidy, old fashioned,...

This was one of the poorest B&Bs I've been in. The room we had (no. 4) was half of an original room divided by a partition which didn't deaden sound at all. Very noisy - when people in the next room (no. 3) walked across the floor there was loud creaking and our bed went up and down. Room was...

Stayed there two nights for leisure. Upon arrival I've been told about the 5% charge for debit/credit card payment. Room clean-ish but definitively in need of massive refurbishment: furnitures and carpet pretty worn, bathroom door didn't close and the handle was dangling (likewise the toilet paper holder and mirror's shelf). Stingy continental breakfast with processed cheese slices single packed (i.e....

Miserable, overpriced, and poor quality 'breakfast' and service. Towels were not changed daily, wifi was poor and additional charges for luggage store. Cannot be classed as a 'Hotel'. Would never recommend.
