room is good, but took them 4 month to release my deposit. The sound proof of the property isn't great. They check the property 1-2 times a month which is kinda annoy. The property design is good. Again slow deposit release.

We stayed in one of the older renovated apartments and could not have asked for anything more. The interior was modern and comfortable (especially the beds) with every convenience needed. It was also very quiet with no traffic noise. The location was perfect for all of our Fringe activities and having coffee shops, groceries, restaurants and parking within 2 blocks...

We arrived during the Fringe Festival. The location is superb, apartment clean, pristine and modern. I'd say given it;s a block of flats, there's not much privacy. You can see right into the neighbors apartment so I'd advise keeping the blinds closed ;-) For us it was pretty good. The rooms are very small and the price being peak was...

Apartment was in a great location just 5 mins walk from Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street, very clean and smart looking. We only stayed for the weekend but was great , only issue I had was that there were no cleaning products like cloths and oven gloves to use. I know it is an apartment so you need to bring...

We stayed one week at the City Pads last august during the fringe festival. The apartment is in a great location, 5 min walking from the royal mile. The furniture are brand new and we found it very clean. The staff, Suzie and Richard, was helpful and very kind. The only problem we had was the noise very early in...

These apartments were basic and not luxury. We had no toilet roll holder, so nowhere to put the roll. No milk( she had to run some up) and no toilet rolls.the cleaners had to run some up.the apartment was tiny but well appointed. A little diappointed

Great location for attending Edinburgh Fringe shows. Not a full service hotel, but for me, that was just fine. Apartment was clean and very new. Staff was helpful. There was a Starbucks and market on the ground floor.

After a disastrous stay at 28 Simpson Loan Edinburgh City Pads were understanding and empathetic, pulling out all of the stops to move us to somewhere better. The one bed split level apartment in 16 Simpson Loan was superb. The deco and interior was stylish and of a high quality while the location was peaceful and quiet with views across...

Although we were here during festival time it was for business purposes therefore a good nights sleep without being alcohol induced was essential. However, the only way you could sleep here was if you were either comatosed or deaf. We stayed in 28/28 Simpson Loan which was on the back of the building looking onto other high rise apartments and...

I've just read recent review which suggests asking for a courtyard apartment. We stayed in one last week I would agree that these are high quality apartments and in a great location, reasonably priced in my view, particularly at it was Fringe-week. The one problem we had in a courtyard facing apartment was the service vehicles. Our second floor accommodation...

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.

“Our flat was in one of the renovated older buildings which I preferred. There were sheer curtains that provided privacy and allowed in more light than the modern flats which seemed to use floor-to- ceiling vertical blinds.”
