We spend a few days here in May and had a lovely time. Everything to our satisfaction especially the food. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room very clean and fresh towels daily. Will definitely return soon.

We stayed here for one night at the beginning of our family UK holiday (Scotland leg). The hotel is centrally located with great views from the room of the Castle and the Old City. The room was clean and well appointed. The service was good and the dining facilities were good.

The bed was very comfortable. The location was great, it only took 10 minutes to walk down town. The breakfast was quite a disappointment. The staff was nice and help us a lot. The hotel was very clean.

This was my 2nd stay at this hotel. Not a 5 star property, but a very nice hotel in a perfect location. Room and bath clean and comfortable, except for the heat. My single room was small, but nice, on the upper floor with a balcony with great view of the castle, Princes Street Gardens, the Scott Monument, made for...

We had three days in Edinburgh. The location of the hotel is fantastic, right on Princes St and walking distance from everything. However, it was not a comfortable stay. The family room was very cramped and we had to climb over the sofa bed to make coffee or access the main bed. It was very noisy, and very hot as...

The hotel seriously needs an upgrade or tune up. It looked tired but it was maybe that the material used everywere was so dark. Our room was fine but I'm not sure if I would have booked at this hotel if we didn't get a privilege room with 1 double bed and 40% off + free breakfast. Our room had...

The hotels located at wonderful location and close to all the main amenities. The breakfast room is reall big and have some good views of the castle. Breakfast itself has many options. The hotel gets real busy with large group of travellers so go early for breakfast. The only downside is that its tough to get a cab from the...

We were given a room at back of hotel on Floor 6. Room was very tired looking and did not smell particularly pleasant. Chipped tiles in bathroom with an obviously very old bathroom suite and fittings and a chunk missing from bottom of bathroom door. No air conditioning in bedroom and very old, chipped and scratched furniture. Beds comfy enough...

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
