Great location. We were here for new year and did feel the hotel was very overpriced even though you would expect to pay more this time of year. We had a superior room with a balcony overlooking Princes street which was nice. The room was a good size clean and tidy. The hotel overall is clean and tidily decorated but...

Great location, central to all attractions in Edinburgh. Room was very basic with a poor view of a back street. Decor was dated and trouser press fell off the wall onto my toe. Nice and warm in the room but wouldn't spend a lot of time there. Had a few drinks in the bar and bar staff and reception staff...

Great location with a short walk to the train station. The hotel is extremely dated and tired. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are like Grandma's from the 60's. Our room was at the rear of the hotel and so only looked out at grubby buildings behind. Since I was only there overnight for business it was OK but...

We were given a gift of a stay in this hotel but after 4 attempts to book here and each time being told no rooms available even though the website shows them. They are more than happy to take the money but avoid taking in the guest were they can

This Hotel is right acrosss from the Christmas market, 5 min walk from Edinburgh Waverly station plus the buses stopp right outside. As it situated on Princes street then the shopping starts right outside the door. The hotel it's self is looking a little run down and could do with a spruce up especially the family rooms, if you wish...

Located on Princes Street this is spot on location wise. The staff were friendly and hard working as well. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the bar area provides an excellent viewing area. The hotel itself however is a bit tired and dated and would benefit from a re-fit. The breakfast choices are also a little limited.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
