Not bad at all. Receptionist and Concierge on arrival very attentive and friendly. Very nice room but the lamps needed a good dusting and shower a little mouldy. A comfortable bed. A smashing wee pool in the basement which I had an hours swim in on the sunday morning. Breakfast was lovely and the waiting staff really helpful and friendly....

This hotel is at the bottom of the Royal Mile near Holyrood Castle and Parliament. We stayed here for a few nights and found it to be quite relaxing after travelling constantly for a few weeks. The rooms were clean and spacious, the shower was nice and warm with a good strong flow which can sometimes be sporadic in accommodation!...

We visited this hotel for an afternoon tea and spa treatments. The front of house staff very welcoming and the facilities top class. The overall experience was very enjoyable and will return. The location ideal for using as a base to tour the many sights of Edinburgh.

Stayed the weekend during the Six Nations match Scotland-v-Italy. A very nice Hotel, friendly, clean, affordable. I is within easy reach of the Station and the town centre, in fact on the Royal Mile. The staff speaks Italian and the beer is good.

This hotel has a great location, in Holyrood beside the parliament and palace, and right beside Arthur's seat for refreshing and breathtaking views over the city. It's also very convenient for the city centre, only being a ten minute walk from the Royal Mile. The facilities are everything you'd expect from a top class hotel, with a lovely pool and...

Booked with superbreaks and enjoyed 1st class virgin train journey to get there. Hotel was excellent can't recommend it enough. I paid £50 and upgraded us for our 2 night stay to an Executive room which included robe & skippers. We enjoyed using the pool, steam room and sauna one afternoon. The hotel itself has a Central location so you...

We stayed here for 4 nights. DBB. The staff - in general - were courteous and very helpful. Our room was rather chilly but supplementary heating was swiftly provided and this proved more than adequate. I also requested extra pillows, which again, were quickly provided. The room - a twin, was fairly spacious with two comfortable "easy chairs". Sadly -...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
