Our four day stay in Edinburg was enhanced by our stay at this intimate hotel....having dinner by the fire was awesome....their wine list was wonderful...the beds were perfect and it was soooo quiet at night. They helped us w every request.

We spent a weekend in Channings and we were impressed by the location, which was good for us as we were visiting friends in Stockbridge, but we were also able to walk into the city centre in about 15 minutes. The staff were good, the breakfast was nice and the room was fine. The only point I would like Channings...

We stayed in the Quest Suite, one of the superior rooms. Lovely large room and a bathroom larger than our bedroom at home, with a large roll top bath and powerful wet room shower. I liked the Shackleton theme to the hotel. We had dinner in the hotel on the Friday night, which was excellent. Breakfast was delicious and the...

Usually I stay in the middle of town, but due to the Ryder cup, nothing was available. As it turns out I was pleased that was the case. Channings is ten minutes in a cab from George St. First impressions upon arriving are ok. After checking in (a very helpful chap called Matthew on reception) a tiny lift took me...

This was the last hotel we stayed in on our honeymoon. The pay-for-parking was a little annoying, but it worked out. A little farther outside of downtown area than I had anticipated, but we were able to walk to the castle area within half an hour. Overall, nice stay.

We arrived at Channings after landing at the airport. We had booked a double room and were immediately upgraded to a two room suite! It was beautifully appointed and we were very comfortable for our three days there. We had an issue with the television and someone came immediately! All of the service people were friendly and helpful. The first...

Ideally located for us within 15 minutes walk from city centre and in a quiet area. The hotel suited our short stay perfectly. The room was spacious and clean with all the facilities you would need. The staff were friendly and helpful and gave us good advice about local amenities. Perfect for couples.

Booked a few days whilst attending conference at EICC. Good location if, like me, you like a 20min walk to a venue in the morning. Very good staff and homely lobby area. Not the place for you if you prefer light, airy rooms. Dark wood and patterned wallpaper. Breakfast in conservatory also quite dark as a basement extension. Handy location,...

Channings in Edinburgh is an informal, relaxed hotel with a very friendly approach. It occupies five Edwardian townhouses in Stockbridge, one of Edinburgh's most popular 'urban villages'. Channings is a wonderfully quirky property which feels a bit like a Scottish country home, full of charming Victorian paintings, prints, books, furniture and memorabilia reflecting the history of previous tenant Sir Ernest Shackleton. ... more   less
