A huge thank you to Channings Hotel for making our anniversary stay so special, complete with our anniversary card! We had very kindly been upgraded to a junior suite which included a separate sitting room and a bathroom with a beautiful bath and a stand-alone shower. The room was lovely and the breakfast was perfect, with very attentive staff. Thank...

Don't be disappointed if you'll see this hotel from outside (yes it looks a bit more like a private house than hotel) but when you get inside, you absolutely forget how it looked at first sight ! I've been surprised how big this hotel is, so many rooms everywhere. Rooms got everything you need, very comfy bed and great bathroom....

Booked in here as although travelling on business I also wanted to visit at the Western General Hospital, which is only a ten minute walk away. But easy also to get into the City Centre on the No. 47 bus - so great for convenience. Nice homely rooms, lovely comfortable lounges, a smart restaurant with good food, all in a...

A beautiful location. A short bus ride or reasonable walk from the city centre down beautiful Georgian New Town streets. A lovely location to explore the local architecture and crescents. A nice stroll down the hill to Stockbridge and its cafes, restaurants, pubs, and bars. A beautiful view from the hotel. The hotel is ok. It's a bit up itself...

Excellent quality room with sumptuous roll top free standing bath. Only downside is no parking. Luckily not an issue on this occasion. Good breakfast and very attentive service. Nice real fires and large sofas downstairs. Would definitely recommend

Can honestly say I have never felt so comfortable in a hotel before, hence the five stars. It wasn't just the warm room, loads of hot water, comfy bed and pleasant staff but there are lots of little seating areas scattered about that encourage you to come outside your room and enjoy the open fires and comfortable seats. There is...

We popped up to Edinburgh for a flying visit at the end of March, and we were lucky enough to get a last minute room at Channings. We had stayed here before for our honeymoon in one of their 'Shackleton' suites, but this time I had just booked a basic double room. As before the staff were very friendly and...

Quite simply a very beautiful hotel in a great location. We stayed in the Endurance suite on the top floor, which was very comfortable, if a bit too hot and stuffy when we first arrived but soon fixed by opening a couple of windows. Very nice space with a large bathroom and rolltop bath - couldn't really fault the room...

Channings in Edinburgh is an informal, relaxed hotel with a very friendly approach. It occupies five Edwardian townhouses in Stockbridge, one of Edinburgh's most popular 'urban villages'. Channings is a wonderfully quirky property which feels a bit like a Scottish country home, full of charming Victorian paintings, prints, books, furniture and memorabilia reflecting the history of previous tenant Sir Ernest Shackleton. ... more   less
