We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Edinburgh and Murrayfield and were very pleased with our experience. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Admittedly, our room was quite small it it had everything we needed. Breakfast was well cooked with plenty of choice.

Very well situated in Stockbridge and good transport or a 25 minute walk to the centre of the city. Entrance and stair carpets need replacing. Nice lounges. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast more than adequate. We had room 40 which I would use again as it had a small lounge turning it in to a mini suite. Tea and...

Awesome hotel for the price and location, short walk to some awesome restaurants, like Rollo and Scran and Scallie, and about a 20min walk into town to Princes st. Hotel itself is good, rooms are a good size, we had the standard double and the bed was massive and had a bath which was awesome.

I stayed just one night in this lovely hotel but was really impressed. Beautiful lobby, friendly staff, quite location, well equipped room, comfy bed and tasty breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone who want to discover Edinburgh - all main sightseeings are in a walking distance or easily accessible by public transport. Only downside was a loudly...

I recently stayed for 2 nights with my friend. Hotel is in a very quiet area, easy to access by foot, bus or cab. Breakfast was excellent. Room was very comfortable. I would recommend it for a quiet get away.

Room was very nice and clean, hotel easily and quickly reached by bus from centre of Edinburgh. The included breakfast was good, although we once had dinner in their restaurant and very not overly impressed. We would recommend this hotel for a trouble-free stay.

We'd booked this last minute and could only afford a petit room. However, compared to a standard holiday inn the room was a good size and came complete with a big bath which was a nice bonus. We were really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel and would happily stay here again. A few negatives to balance up...

After having a wonderful stay in this hotel a number of years back, I decided to re-visit Channings. Although the staff was friendly and helpful, the bathroom was tired and in need of an upgrade. The tiles were coming up and the shower didn't work properly and it was very pokey. We reported the problem with the shower in the...

We arrived earlier that our 3pm check but the lady at reception kept our bags for us at reception whilst we went for a drink before we could get into our room. Our superior room was massive! we had one of the Shackleton suites and for the price was well worth the money we paid. Bright, light and spacious bedroom...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Channings in Edinburgh is an informal, relaxed hotel with a very friendly approach. It occupies five Edwardian townhouses in Stockbridge, one of Edinburgh's most popular 'urban villages'. Channings is a wonderfully quirky property which feels a bit like a Scottish country home, full of charming Victorian paintings, prints, books, furniture and memorabilia reflecting the history of previous tenant Sir Ernest Shackleton. ... more   less
