If you're after Scottish accommodation then this is the place for you! I loved the decor, it really made my trip to Edinburgh exciting. The room I stayed in was large and comfortable with a nice window to look out of. It was in a quiet area but still within walking distance to the heart of Edinburgh. Definitely recommend!

Very comfortable alternative to the usual 3 star hotel chains, with character and excellent value. Complex interior and basis as an old club means it might be hard for disabled people to use easily and probably not set up for families. But for a couple for a 1 or 2 nights, excellent.

We spent 4 nights in that hotel close to Princess Street. Excellent breakfast, room very confortable; very quiet; close to various bus lines and in a walking distance of various good restaurants and typical bars..

I think the club prides itself for being a class above the rest and it shows in terms of the decor and the presentation of the room. I like my stay very much. The location of the club is easy to find and I enjoyed my stay there.

I booked the Royal Scots Club for a small group of staff who were having a company offsite all day meeting. The delegates were more than comfortable using the facilities and amenities provided at the venue and had no negative feedback. The staff were accommodating and quick to respond to all enquiries. I would 100% use the venue for this...

Great location a little away from the crowds, but still very easy walk to the Royal Mile and fringe festival events. Bartender and night front desk staff were very good, making sure to serve us when we came in late. Large room with more electrical outlets than you would expect in an old building. Very nicely done rooms with high...

Quite good value, interesting little place. Weather was unusually warm and there was no aircon, just a noisy fan which was a pity. But a nice comfortable historic place. Fairly close to some good little pubs and eating plans. Fascinating furnishings and art etc.

Excellent hotel for city break.. Large rooms, clean and lots of attention to detail. Would recommend over large chain hotels any day of the week. Only short walk from St Andrew square and yet very quiet area.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
