This was perfectly adequate and nice for what I needed it for, a solo week holiday in Edinburgh. Most of the staff were really nice (except for a couple, specifically the guy I checked in with. I understand that he had been on the overnight...More
I come here every year when visiting the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, staying for 2-4 weeks, and I can't fault it. Friendly staff, clean, comfortable rooms. Showers and toilets shared between each floor, but kept nice and clean, and the shower pods are nice and private....More
This hostel comes across as an unusual mix of a historic building (complete with replica medieval sets of armour) with a very noticeable, although superficial, hippy/anarchist vibe. In contrast to other reviewers, I found the bunk beds impressively comfortable by virtue of being set on...More

The location is the best part about this hostel. It's within walking distance to most attractions, close to a supermarket and on the corner of the street there's a busstop for the hop-on-hop-off bus tour (dont recommend the tour though) and opposite, the 35 bus...More

Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
Hi Hayley. Our breakfast is £1.90 and we do have gluten-free cereal as an option. There's a car park at the Travelodge Hotel around the corner and it is £15 for 24h. Hope this helps. Your High Street Hostel team.
