Stayed night after Ward Thomas concert. Staff very friendly. Room clean and comfortable. No other amenities in hotel so may be best for one night / short break. Go next door to Pep and Fodder for breakfast rather than purchase a breakfast box.

The hotel is in a perfect location, on the end of Princes Street and less than 5 mins. walk from tram and railway station. Our room ( 223) overlooked two busy streets but enabled you to see Edinburgh without disturbing our sleep. The room was very clean, fresh and light. All reception staff were pleasant and helpful particularly Alan. The...

We stayed here in March for a weekend break and were lucky to have good weather. Very near to Waverly Bridge and train station (approx 5 mins walk). Nearest DECENT pub about 5 mins walk (Guildford arms) . 10 mins walk from Royal Mile etc. Location is great therefore. Room a little small but comfortable and clean and what you...

Nice welcome, clean and comfy! Can be a little noisy, but it didn't bother us too much. Very central and a great Italian a few doors down for breakfast etc. Taxi rank across from hotel - not very regular, best to walk down to the Balmoral.

First off, every single person that we encountered in the 3 nights we stayed there were amazing. Friendly, helpful, accommodating. They were awesome. The location is excellent too. It's just down the street from Calton Hill. literally right across the street from Rabbie's, where most of the Rabbie's tours leave from. It's a 7-10 minute walk to the Royal Mile....

Waterloo Place Travelodge, Edinburgh is just the place to stay in Edinburgh city centre after arriving late at night. Clean, tidy, and a reasonable price. no breakfast available but plenty of places anearby to get a quick bite in the morning - so no problem.

5 of us Stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate my nieces 18th birthday, couldn't fault the location, easy walking distance to theatre, shops, transport, pubs. The rooms were immaculate and the staff were extremely helpful and cheery. I will definitely be booking to stay here again. The only faults with the room is the fact that there is no...

Stayed in a family room for 4 nights. The hotel is in a good central location - easy to access buses trains and trams. There were building works going on opposite but our room was well sound proofed and there were no noise issues from traffic etc. The staff here were outstanding: friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We stayed on the...

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here on a short stay with my parents and extended family. the location couldn't be better......5 minutes from Waverley Station and 5 minutes walk into the centre of town. Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
