Excellent value for money. Clean and comfortable room. Friendly staff. What's not to like? Very close to the railway station and the bus station. Excellent city centre location. Very quiet hotel. We were there midweek - I expect it might be busier/noisier at weekends.

Very central. Very clean. Will use this hotel again. Reception staff friendly and helpful .Close to all amenities, after checking out it was great to be able to leave suitcases for a few hours while we finished shopping, looking around and getting some lunch..

Customer service was fab - Alan in particular always very friendly & helpful, giving us advice on the local area. Got what expected nice clean comfortable stay, ideal for tourists as pretty central but not right in the middle of the hustle & bustle. would definitely stay again

Stayed for a weekend in Feb. The location couldn't be better if you arrive by train and very handy for exploring. Our room faced the main street but we didn't have any noise issues even with the sash window open. The room was basic but clean and comfortable, the only slight issue was the very creaky floors but we slept...

I really like travelodge chain and would defo stay there again. The only I had in Edinburgh was that my room was not cleaned up in one of the days I stayed there and I had no clean towels on that day. Overall service was great!

Many travelodges to choose from in Edinburgh, really pleased with this choice. Based at end of princess street so not in the full hustle and bustle, but 2 minutes from shops, station and short walk to mile and castle. At the end of a fairly busy room but quiet at night and could only hear a muffled sound from the...

Great location just a stone's throw from the station, but on a quiet street. Standard Travelodge rooms. Could really do with a shelf unit! Water pressure wasn't the greatest. Staff very friendly. Leave your bags on the last day for a donation to Heart Foundation. Would recommend.

The hotel is situated in an excellent position at the end of Princes Street and handy for most things in central Edinburgh. There are plenty of cafes close by for breakfast and lots of restaurants for dinner

Well located hotel for anyone needing somewhere central and close to Waverley Station to stop over. My only problem was that the bathroom had not been well cleaned, and I found a lot of hair on the shower wall behind the curtain, and on the bathroom floor.

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
