Market Street Hotel emerges as a serene urban retreat, with guests often commending its spotless rooms and tranquil atmosphere. The modern amenities, including a complimentary minibar and luxurious extras, are frequently celebrated, though opinions on value are split; some guests find the pricing fair, while others comment on high costs for certain services.
While the hotel's central location is lauded for its convenience and surprisingly quiet rooms, a few travelers have mentioned variability in room sizes and occasional noise disturbances. Service at the hotel is generally well-regarded, with special mentions of the welcoming champagne and attentive staff, despite a few reports of inconsistent service.

Detailed Reviews
Absolutely wonderful experience for our weeklong stay in Edinburgh. Our Roomy Bath (room 108) was more of a small suite with an entry including a desk, armchair, drawers, mini-fridge, complimentary snacks and a variety of beverages; a large bathroom with shower and separate soaking tub and more drawers; and a spacious bedroom with a large very comfortable bed, two closets, and a table for additional workspace. Much larger than most European hotels I’ve visited. Windows had sliding wood closures which completely blocked light and noise when we slept. I requested additional hangers for the closet when we unpacked and they were delivered in moments. Breakfast was included in our rate and was exceptional in service, variety, and flavor. It includes a cold buffet and hot choices from the menu made to order as well as complimentary champagne. We checked out before breakfast on our final day and the hotel provided a boxed breakfast to go with pastries, cold cuts, yogurt, granola, an apple, juice, and water. Coffee both in-room and in the restaurant was plentiful and delicious. A short walk to buses to the airport and perfect location to access all of Edinburgh. Highly recommended!

From the welcome champagne to the best sleep we had during our week long vacation in Scotland, everything about this hotel is perfect. Central location - you are in the heart of the city. Super close to the train station and bus stop to catch the bus to the airport. Free snacks and drinks in the room, rooms well sound proofed that you don't even know there are other guests in the hotel (and we were there New Year's Eve), and most importantly -super comfortable bed and pillows. Rain shower and a comfy robe to wear after the shower. Dyson hair dryer and even a hair straightener! Lots of great TV channels in case one night you choose to relax and watch a movie. Breakfast seems expensive but it's a fantastic mix of continental buffet, unlimited coffee and tea and one cooked item, always with one glass of champagne included. Try to go to a breakfast spot nearby and if you choose a hot dish like eggs will pay the same if not more for less food. And you will not be sitting next to a fireplace overlooking the skyline of Edinburgh. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Edinburgh.

First of all, the lady who helped us check in, Angel, was absolutely amazing, she offered us some complimentary champagne, sat us down in the Nor’ Loft bar area and hurried along our room so we could check in 4 hours early. She was so warm and welcoming that we had to ask for her name just for this review.
The hotel is in an ideal location, just 2 minutes away from the Royal Mile and Princes Street Gardens on either side and only a short walk from the Tram and Bus stops.
The room was stunning, with incredible views of Edinburgh. The mattress and pillows were some of the comfiest we have stayed in. The addition of a complimentary mini bar, Dyson airwrap hairdryer, GHD straighteners and a tv that allows you to watch Netflix, IPlayer or cast your iPhone onto really exceeded our expectations.
The hotel also smelt amazing everywhere, with Laura Thomas diffusers, hand soaps and shower gels that were incredible.
Overall, one of our favourite hotels, and this allowed us to have such a wonderful stay in Edinburgh

We had a absolutely fantastic stay at Market Street. From the moment we arrived and had a glass of welcome champagne to the views from our room every day, we loved every moment. The staff are some of the nicest people and helped us make our stay very special. The room was spacious and had thoughtful touches and the free daily stocked mini bar was a lovely surprise. Comfy bed and lots of space to store luggage. After unpacking we pushed our suitcase under the bed and it gave us even more room. Slippers and robes were on hand, plus other touches such as a hairdryer and even a clothes steamer. The onsite champagne bar was frequented by us every night and it has a fantastic terrace with views over the city. We'll definitely stay here again.

Market Street Hotel is in a very convenient location --across the street from one entrance to the train station and within easy walking distance to both Old Town and New Town. It really was an ideal location, though I was a little surprised by the steep stairs up to Old Town the first night and we quickly learned to take the alternative route via Cockburn Street. Still steep, but not a wall of stairs!
We stayed in the hotel for 6 nights; we received a small discount which is available to those who stayed more than a certain number of nights in the hotel but had to prepay 30 days before our arrival. When I was invoiced for this, I was initially confused because the invoice did not specify the dates, etc, and I was away from home at the time. This could perhaps be made a little clearer.
We stayed in Room 602 at one of the busiest times in Edinburgh, during the August Military Tattoo and Fringe Festival. Thankfully, the room was situated with a view toward "New Town," and had no street noise due to its orientation and high floor. It could have been a little larger but had many good features such as bedside lights, a minibar with free drinks and other treats that were replenished daily. A wood panel served as a window shutter, darkening the room at night.
The housekeeping was a little spotty. Even though we left a note and gratuity every day, they sometimes failed to provide the requested face towels and paper products. Also, as others have commented, the toilet was mounted above a normal height so that those of us who are petite are not able to sit and touch our feet to the floor, which was not the most comfortable.
All in all, I would recommend the hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again. We enjoyed the location and the staff were very friendly and helpful. With the longer stay discount, it was a good value for the money.

We loved everything about this hotel. The rooms were well thought through with everything we needed for a four day stay: coffe maker, kettle, teabags and coffe, minibar with selection of lemonades, mineral water and some drinks, comfortable beds and spa like bathroom with nice soap and body lotion. The staff of the hotel was excellent. We also enjoyed breakfast with selection of local food. The hotel is very central but quiet so you don’t have a feeling of a rush. Walk distance to almost every sights and also to take a break in a middle of the day.

I picked this hotel based on location and the champagne breakfast deal. Our group had both snug rooms and artist rooms and found them to be near identical in space and amenities. I was really impressed with the quality of the goods at the hotel- everything felt new and high end. I liked the Bluetooth radio and the soaps in particular. The room was quiet with a very nice heating/cooling unit, and the window had a solid door to block out all the light. I didn’t hear the neighbors or elevator at all, though I was at the end of the hall.
Breakfast almost deserves a second review- it was delicious and included both a self serve portion and a made to order hot breakfast. They had a lot of vegetarian options including haggis. The espresso and fresh juice were very good as well.
Check in on the 7th floor was out of the ordinary but meant that there were nice views and it felt more secure than right off the street. We didn’t plan Edinburgh well so we asked the various desk hosts for a lot of suggestions and they gave helpful local knowledge. I’d stay here next time I visit Edinburgh without question.

As returning guests we got an upgrade which was appreciated. However it was all a bit downhill from there.
The hotel had no hot water on our first morning. We were given a complimentary glass of champagne for the inconvenience. As it is you get champagne on arrival and sometimes at breakfast too.
The fridge didn’t appear to be working as nothing (including milk) was cold. Housekeeping kept taking our second room card even though we’d specifically asked (at reception) that they didn’t. So we only ever had one card.
We had laundry done and (as had happened at our London hotels) we expected this to be dropped off to our room. I thought it hadn’t been done until I asked at reception the next morning. They had held it there.
The coffee machine leaked and I left a note for housekeeping. They just left a grotty looking cloth under it…
They also left no extra toilet paper and we ran out.
You have to book for breakfast which while a bit understandable to monitor guest numbers, it means you can’t relax if you actually want to go later, or go earlier if hungry. The breakfast is nothing special as it is.
When we left this morning I was told that because I wanted to use a different card to pay for extras they would have to charge me the full amount of four nights again ($nz3000) and add extras and then release the $3000 hold (which would take a few days.. effectively holding $6000). I ended up getting her to agree to just charge the extras. Bit of a merry mix up.
I wasn’t asked how our stay had gone so didn’t provide any feedback though I had sent an email to the reservations manager during our stay. Awaiting a reply to that.
It’s a shame as it was really good the first time. And it’s in a great location near the train station.
However after this stay we definitely won’t be back.

I booked and paid in full 10 months in advance, one category above the cheapest room. Somehow I still ended up with the smallest room on the lowest floor. The rooms look nice but because of how they are configured a lot of space is wasted. If there is more than one of you, with more than carryon, you will find this a push. There is no room service other than alcohol. There is no onsite laundry as per booking.com. They provide the service at a cost per piece. Television/music can be heard from adjacent rooms as I type this. With the odd exception the food on the menus upstairs and available at the breakfast buffet is basically a coeliacs nightmare. You will do better to eat at the Albernach nearby who have a comprehensive allergy menu.

Market Street Hotel is situated in the best location in Edinburgh right next to the train station between the new town and old town. Everything is in walking distance. The rooms are small and it is an odd construction in that the reception area is on the 7th floor right next to the bar. We had a vista room on the 6th floor which faced the train station and Princes Street. Breakfast is served on the 7th floor and has varied buffet choices in addition to waiter service of a hot item of your choice. The shower in the room was great with good water pressure and good product choices. To top it off, my wife loved the Dyson hair dryer. We also enjoyed champagne in the 7th floor bar area. This is a good choice hotel when staying in Edinburgh.

I believe so
It’s as the above reviewer (Marrick), mentioned, There is a walk in shower room and toilet but the sink and shaving / hair drying area is on the area outside the shower room before you enter the bedroom. Unusual but space saving and effective.
I also do not know and suggest you ask the hotel directly.
Yes it does and it is very good
