The location isn't bang in the city centre but there's decent transport nearby. If you are in Edinburgh for reasons to be near to this location then its a good choice. Its on a quiet street. Sleeping was no issue. Its clean.

Located close to bus lines and a ten minute walk to the Royal Mile. Belford is clean and comfortable. Our room on the top floor had a nice view of the city. Breakfast was delicious. Tom seemed a little tired during our stay, but was welcoming enough. Ask him about fishing!

We enjoyed our stay at this establishment very much. Although it has a plain exterior, the inside is very nice and very well kept. Tom B is the "chief cook and bottle washer" and provides valuable information, a friendly atmosphere, and great food in addition to a clean and comfortable room. The Royal Mile is only a 10 minute walk...

We stayed at the Belford Guest House in Edinburgh for five days at the end of August 2011. On the negative side, the Guest House is a long, long walk from the city center, but close to a bus stop. The bus will take you quickly into the center at a cost of 1.30 British pounds, exact change required. Much...

Tom is a first-rate host, gives lots of local advice, and is very pleasant to chat with over breakfast. The rooms are comfortable and the house is about a 20min walk from the Royal Mile and a 10min walk from the park with Arthur's Seat which means that it is nice and quiet but not too far. Alternatively, you could...
