One night stay, Sunday 28 September 2014. There's clearly been a lot of money spent on adding the B&B accommodation to this house in Edinburgh, close to the Western General Hospital. But not all of it wisely. Let's start with the room doors. Who on Earth would install panel doors that are mainly opaque glass in any shared accommodation? They...

Stayed at The Auld Alliance in September 14. Very friendly welcome and the room I was given was very spacious and decorated to a high standard. Fully cooked breakfast which was lovely and there is also off street parking. I have stayed in many B&B's and hotels but none compare to the Auld Alliance when it comes to value for...

We ended up being upgraded to a superior room with lovely views over the Cairngorms. The room was welcoming with whiskey as a welcome and home made shortcake, the shower in the bathroom had a mind of its own and a lot of water ended on the floor. Could have done with more electric sockets in bedroom but this is...

We arrived late in Edinburgh in June last month and was very fortunate to chance upon this place. It was an ideal place to stay as we had to return the rental car to the city centre early next morning. Definitely recommend.

During my annual trip to Edinburgh I had to find a new B&B to stay at and the Auld Alliance was recommended to me. Well, I could not have been happier. Was fortunate to get a room on the first or ground floor (always a plus) - it was spacious, clean, wonderful bathroom facilities and TV channels galore! Large breakfast...

We stayed 2 nights at the Auld Alliance. I chose it because we could take our border terrier. Very welcoming and homely. It was like a home from home. We stayed as a family and really enjoyed our stay there. We like to walk and it was a nice walk into Edinburgh city centre in the evening. Absolutely spotless. The...

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting friends. Bedroom/bathroom large, modern and clean with massive shower. Hearty cooked breakfast with fruit, cereal and plenty of toast etc. Very pleasant and helpful hosts always checking that everything was o.k. and offering help and advice. Car would be necessary if touring but the buses are frequent into Edinbugh city centre.

This place is emaculate, every thing is so clean and tidy. The propieters are extremely friendly and VERY welcoming...they helped with everything we needed as one of our party is disabled. The breakfast is second to non!!! The only down point is the floorboards creak...so take some ear plugs

We went with 2 couples at The Auld Alliance. The treat was very warm. When we told what route we planned to take, the hostess came with more and very interesting information about the region. A B&B we would certainly recommend to everybody !
