We stayed as a couple for one night for the Christmas markets. Upon arrival there was no one at the desk, there's a sign saying to press a button for assistance - we waited over half an hour, I called the hotel, pressed the button and eventually someone came - not ideal check in! I suggest they could improve this...

Myself and my husband stayed here for 2 nights in November. If we were visiting Edinburgh again, we would return Pros -Room was spacious, cleaned daily and had a hairdryer -Bed was extremely big and comfortable -We were on the 4th floor and it was very quiet -Location was excellent, the airlink bus left us off right outside and it...

Our room was very small & basic but OK. We were on the 2nd floor of the very old renovated building. The room was very hot but it did seem to cool down a little bit during the night! It had everything we needed including a fan! We hated the staircases as they spiralled & narrowed at points even after...

A fairly central location at a good price. The room was a decent size and on the whole clean, except for a small amount of dirt in the shower, which I think is where it wasn't wiped correctly after cleaning. The curtain cancelled out a good part of the noise from the busy road outside. Staff were friendly and recommended...

Was pleasantly surprised by this - went for 3 nights for the Christmas market and got a good deal. The room was surprisingly large and the bathroom and room were very clean. Facilities are basic but for a quick budget stay it's perfectly fine. The team does go past and rings it's bell which can be heard in front facing...

Without a doubt Cityroomz is in a brilliant location for shopping and eating out in central Edinburgh. The room was sufficient, and for the price it was good enough. However, areas for improvement could be that the carpets were filthy, and needed a really good clean. We were there for three nights and our sheets needed changing due to food...

Stayed just one night here. Was greeted by the receptionist who informed us we were upgraded to the family room which meant we got a bigger room with an extra bunk bed. Upon arrival to the room it was cold but the radiator was off. Once turned on it warmed up super fast. Basic enough but the bed was super...

Very good location in the heart of the city. Close to a vast array of restaurants, pubs, bars and shops. Clean and nice room, would be nice to have a bath after a hard or cold day, but it has everything you need for a convenient good value hotel. The only negative is the lack of soundproofing internally. Not much...

Our first pleasant surprise was to find the Cityroomz conveniently located directly opposite the bus stop from the airport. Next, our room, whilst being rather small, was clean and well equipped, with a king-size bed (essential for my 6ft 3" frame), an iron, tea and coffee-making facilities, a safe, an LED TV with a reasonable selection of channels (including Dave),...

For the money, you can't go wrong. Funky designed rooms with high ceilings and a comfortable bed. Great location, close to Edinburgh Castle and a wide variety of food/drink options. Be prepared to walk. Closest parking is rather expensive for over 24 hours (no in and out privileges) and isnt close. As a plus though, it's between the hotel and...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
