This hotel is bang on! Fantastic location walking distance from everything apart from the zoo (bus journey). For the price this hotel cost us it was amazing value for money and I would definitely use again if up in Edinburgh

This hotel is a bit small, but with lots to offer. The location is amazing. It is close to wonderful restaurants, there is a grocery store near by, many bus stops as well. The main one is the one that goes straight to the airport. That saved me 60 pounds for sure. Staff was very nice. Rooms always clean. it...

I didn't have high expectations for Cityroomz. We arrived pretty late at night after flying from Dublin to London to Edinburgh. Although it was late when we arrived, the staff was really friendly and helpful with our numerous questions. The room was clean and we never heard a peep out of anyone else in the hotel, although we saw plenty...

Great location just off Princes Street, good price. Room had all the facilities you would want, with kettle, tea, coffee, a safe, iron, tv etc. Comfy bed and considering its central location pretty quiet. Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Only negative was the cleanliness of the room. There was a stain on carpet, the wall could do with a...

We stayed in this hotel for two night, the hotel didn't really leave me with an impression, I'm more on the neutral side, it was a place to sleep. The first thing we remarked when entering the room was the "perfume" of clean, maybe due to the products used, anyway, the impression that it left us was of a place...

The location is great and the furnishings in the room are very nice. Unfortunately my room was quite cold overnight. Only this morning did I notice a little blow heater tucked on beside the hairdryer but to be honest I would't really have wanted to have it on all night. Strangely enough walking throughbthe main building it was boiling so...

Very friendly staff and warm welcome. Great location, just at the end of Princes Street. 20 yards away is a magnificent view of the Castle and time to get the camera out. The bus stop for the airport is right outside the door. Room was large with a good sized toilet/shower. Everything was clean and room had tea/coffee and even...

You can get there by the airport bus. The stop is across from the hotel. It is very near Princess street, Princess Gardens and you can get to Edinburgh Castle very easy from there - walking. By the way - the view just around the corner is amazing. We didn't have breakfast but there are supermarkets very near - 3...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
