Visited with my husband and we advised the staff we would not arrive until midnight in advance. The staff called my to allow me to gain access to the property and left the key out for us which was very nice of them. The room was number 5 a great size on the ground floor (I think is a disabled...

We stayed for one night , celebrating my mums 70th birthday. We chose Queens primarily for its location [which was very central] , but were also very pleased at the standard of our room , the friendliness and attentiveness of all the staff and the quality of a freshly cooked and substantial breakfast. Thank you Queens.

Great location, very central. Ok breakfast. Nice big and clean rooms. A bit pricey but worth it for the location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to the princes street tram stop and about a 10-15 min walk from the royal mile

Greetings all. We just came back from Edinburgh for short visit with our kids and we found this guest house online that we book´t. No need to say the location is good, it is pretty neat but there are flaws.... We got a room 11 and we had included breakfast as well. When we got it the room was stuffy...

we stayed here for 3 nights, we were placed in a very large family room (11), with a flat screen TV, 3 beds, sofa and good sized bathroom. Staff were incredibly friendly. Breakfast consisted off a buffet style set up with yogurts, fruit and juice as well as a cooked breakfast which was lovely. 3 minute walk from princes street...

Hubby and I stayed here for 3 nights. Had asked for a view but none left so we were given the large family room. (No 12) great room, really big, great storage and bathroom amazing. It was too big for us but if you need a family room or a larger group ask for no12. Staff really friendly, able to...

It was a very nice and charming hotel with nice staff members. This hotel was located in the new town (noisy because of an urban road) but never mind. The breakfasts were as good as possible, and the room very clean. We will keep a good remember from Edimburgh and a nice souvenir with this charming hotel.

When booking we asked for a quite room got the family room??? There was only two of us so it felt like a storage room for beds. We had the room that was directly in front of the stairs so it was noisy as the wooden floor outside our door made the movements of other guest very audible. Staff were...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
