We visited the restaurant on Friday for lunch, we like trying a new restaurant and this looked our sort of place. The restaurant was very quite with only a few diners, this did mean we could hear the kitchen staff signing to the radio. The food was well presented and the staff were very friendly. I did find it disappointing...

Your review seems to have appeared on our ' rooms' page. I'm sorry you did not enjoy your experience here and more sorry of your issues were not addressed. Having asked all the staff who are asked to report upwards of any issues, we seem to be void on memory of your problems so I can only apologise. We do...

This is a Michelin starred restaurant with four rooms, set in a grand town house overlooking smart gardens. The room that we had in this one night stay was large and well appointed, with a huge bathroom, desk, sofa and chairs. There was ample wardrobe space, good shower and plentiful electrical sockets. Those with delicate backs may like to be...

After arriving inauspiciously and a bit cross after a satnav pallaver, what a lovely experience. The welcome was delightful, informal and friendly, our room was perfect. An enormous comfortable bed, beautiful Windows and view of Royal Terrace. Fabulous high ceiling and a bathroom, specifically a bath to wallow in. After a suitably delicious pre prandial in the residents bar, another...

Booked an overnight to celebrate my wife birthday and we had a lovely time . From start to finish the staff were very friendly and attentive . The food as you would expect was fantastic and the room was decorated as you would expect from a fine establishment and in keeping with tradition with a modern twist. If I had one...

We spent the first 4 nights of our month long Scotland/England vacation at 21212. This hotel is magnificent and set the bar very high for the remainder of our trip. 21212 is beautiful, well decorated and maintained throughout. Our room was on the top floor and overlooked a beautiful garden which allowed for a quiet, restful stay. The bed was...

When I return to Edinburgh, I will stay at 21212 Hotel. The hotel room was beautifully designed. The staff were the best, not only in that they were very helpful and responsive, but that they tried to anticipate our needs. Try not to miss the restaurant for a memorable meal. Five stars.

A beautiful room - wonderful bed - huge and comfortable. Amazing bathroom. All tastefully decorated. Quiet location minutes from city centre. Not overpriced and a million miles away from the standard over priced city centre hotels. Great friendly service. Michelin starred restaurant also a fabulous experience.

Incredible and perfect! From the moment you climb the stairs to the front door to the moment you leave, it was brilliant. I can not fault 21212, our room was perfect, the bathroom was that extra wow factor. The breakfast, and the openness and opportunity to meet the other guests both at breakfast and in the lounge (as well as...

Stayed one night in a room right at the top of the hotel, so anyone who isn't fit may struggle! Lovely room and nice touch of sloe liqueur in a decanter upon arrival. Having been spoilt by great breakfasts on our Scotland road trip, the expectation was high at this hotel. It was quite bizarre though. There was a big...

Oh dear, what can I say? Sorry you didn't like your breakfast? Not being a hotel we don't go down the expected route and feel that most people are looking for something a bit different from us.

We stayed one night with our son and his partner and the rooms are really amazing, as is the whole of the property. The bathrooms are something else with a free standing bath and huge walk in shower. Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
